2.28 ERA, actually! And a 1.94 if you want to get technical and round up. But yeah, hard to believe that one bad start is the difference between an amazing year and a legendary one. It would have been only the 6th time in the National League since 2000 for a starter to have an ERA under 2.00. The other 5 were Greinke, Arrieta, Kershaw (twice), and Clemens. Honestly, despite that stat posted in the rotation thread about how basically Hendricks and Lester have been identical in the 2nd half, I think Lester gets it based on more wins, IP, and K's. Assuming, that is, the writers don't give it to Jose Fernandez, which would be a classy, but more importantly an acceptable thing to do considering that coming into today Fernandez was the pitcher with the highest WAR in the majors, so it's not like it would be undeserved if they give it to him posthumously out of respect, he's rightfully earned it despite the tragedy.
