It's finally here, everyone. Game 1 of the National League Division Series. Tonight the Giants beat the Mets with a Conor Gillaspie 3 run homer in the 9th and a dominant Madison Bumgarner start. The worst part about this whole situation is how someone who spells his last name Gillaspie pronounces it like Gillespie. That's some amateur hour nonsense and his parents are dumb. Anyways, the Cubs have one of the front runners for this year's Cy Young going for us in this one. Mr. Jon Lester gets the ball as the Game 1 starter. Jon has a history of doing well in the playoffs, and I suspect given the Cubs elite glove dongs, the stellar pitching of Mr. Lester, and the laughable lineup of the Giants, Mr. Lester will make easy work of the lineup. Here's Mr. Lester's numbers for the 2016 regular season:
Year W L ERA G GS CG IP BB SO ERA+ FIP WHIP H9 HR9 BB9 SO9 SO/W
2016 19 5 2.44 32 32 2 202.2 52 197 164 3.41 1.016 6.8 0.9 2.3 8.7 3.79
Here's a picture of Jon Lester being awesome: http://i.imgur.com/VAbSsmr.jpg?1 Look at him. All majestic and horsefeathers. Pumped up that he just beat the crap out of some team I don't know who, probably the Reds (EDIT: It was the Reds, apparently, if the attached page is to be believed). He's probably gonna be that way again when he faces off against this guy: http://i.imgur.com/KX5tFgH.jpg?1 "Oh mah Gawwwwwwwd gurl look at Jon Lester flexin them muscles in those pants!" Johnny Cueto is a guy who was good in Cincinnati, got traded to the Royals where he was garbage, then signed a big deal with the Giant this year where he remembered he was a good pitcher, so this might not be a cake walk for the Cubs offense. Here are his numbers from this season:
Year W L ERA G GS CG SHO IP BB SO ERA+ FIP WHIP H9 HR9 BB9 SO9 SO/W
2016 18 5 2.79 32 32 5 2 219.2 45 198 147 2.96 1.093 8.0 0.6 1.8 8.1 4.40
It's all good though. The Cubs have been preparing for this all season. Unfortunately we have to deal with all the even year [expletive] narratives that are going to be flying around this series. Whatever, not worried. Here's hoping none of you get to start a game thread! Cheers! Keep winning, Cubs.
