  1. You guys are convinced Brown sucks after 280 plate appearances across two seasons before the age of 24 and one year removed from being the 4th best prospect in all of baseball? Okay. I guess that's a rational conclusion.
  2. Those were all dumb, but I kind of agree with this one. Note that I said kind of before you destroy me. I read that and said to myself "Well what the hell is he doing during the games he isn't pitching?". The entire team had a day off. They play baseball 162 times a year, they get 19 days off during that span (counting the ASB). That's 19 days over 6 months that they have to do whatever they want. I seriously doubt they want to go back to the stadium and study film. EDIT: And by "I read that" I meant the original statement, not yours.
  3. THIS IS BIG NEWS PEOPLE. http://espn.go.com/boston/mlb/story/_/id/7911759/report-josh-beckett-boston-red-sox-played-golf-2-days-missed-start And he presumably got a stiff back doing so causing him to miss a start. And people in Boston are acting like the sky is falling. I mean seriously. Golf? They're upset about someone playing golf? On an off day? This whole stigma attached to players who injure themselves not playing baseball is a bit ridiculous. "HE SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN PLAYING GOLF!" Yes, he should have. Because it's an off-day, and he can do whatever the [expletive] he wants, and golf is a low impact sport that shouldn't normally cause injury to an athletic individual. Do these fans expect their players to live in plastic bubbles off the field? These level of safety precautions that these fans demand the players take is borderline insanity to me. Let themn live their own damn life. Golf. Really, Boston? STFU. Some gems form the comments on the ESPN article...
  4. Trade and sign. He'll understand.
  5. For the love of the planet earth take that kind of boring nonsense outrage over nothing and use it on one of the many genocides going on right now
  6. Hamels is just putting in his resume to pitch for Texas next year. He got Nolan Ryan all hot and bothered now
  7. Jayson Werth broke his wrist today and is out a minimum of 6 weeks. He was probably never in danger of getting sent back down, but this all but guarantees that Harper will remain on the club through the year I'm sure (assuming he continues to play well).
  8. He tried to say something positive about one of our players. Flame him! Yeah well people who make definitive statements based on unfounded bias is a pet peeve. Sue me. His statement read more like a general well-wish for the guy. It's not like "beast" is a column on a player's stat sheet. It is in Milwaukee
  9. Why did the Cubs ship Cruz off for scraps? I was looking at his numbers... he had a bad 2003 at the MLB level at the age of 24, one year removed from being the 6th best overall prospect in all of baseball... and the Cubs traded him and Steve Smythe for Richard Lewis and Andy Pratt? Why did they give up on him so quickly?

  11. Is Braddock injured right now or something?
  12. Yeah that 8:4 BB:K ratio in 15 innings is straight baller status Nice input  Yeah, way to buttress your position with facts, jerk. Go play in traffic. Dolis has great stuff, and I'm excited to see him get more opportunties. That's all I said. Well had you said that everything would probably be fine... but you said he was "a beast". Mariano Rivera is "a beast". Carlos Marmol circa 2010 is "a beast". Rafael Dolis' numbers indicate he is anything but. That includes his minor league numbers. He doesn't strike guys out, and he's given up too many hits and walks over his entire career to be considered "a beast". His K rate has actually decreased with age, going from 11.9, to 7.2, to 6.8, to 6.6, to 5.9, to his current (and small sample sized) 2.3. His current K/BB ratio is 0.50. He has a career 1.54 in the minors. Among all pitchers in the majors right now, that would seat him as the 294th best K/BB ratio in baseball. His actual MLB K/BB ratio seats him at 383rd, putting him such great company as Dan Wheeler, Jeremy Guthrie, and Mark Melancon. On top of that he's sporting a super awesome and unsustainable .208 BABIP against, while Fangraphs has his FIP and xFIP sitting at 4.86 and 4.99. Unless your idea of "a beast" is an oversized dachshund with explosive diarrhea, refrain from calling subpar relievers "a beast".

  14. The Yankees aren't stupid so they won't trade for Marmol, but if they could eat the contract and spin him for... well, anything at this point, I'd be okay with that.
  15. http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/23843/bryan-lahair-the-best-story-of-the-season
  16. Didn't he have more than the rest of the team before the game tonight? Just getting back from work and haven't checked updated stats, so I'm purely guessing. Because Stewart hit one tonight, I think the Cubs have 12 total home runs. LaHair has 6 of them.
  17. Ken Griffey, Jr. is going to get more votes than Bryan LaHair

  19. To be fair, the angle he had looked like he couldn't get a clear view of whether or not Helton's foot was on the bag and probably just assumed it was. That being said, he's an idiot for assuming it was without bothering to make a quick adjustment to check. If you can't see the players foot on the bag adjust your line of sight, genius.
