  1. I don't care if that quote is or isn't sour grapes, it's awesome
  2. Andrew Cashner is just upset that Theo checked "No" when Cashner sent him a "Do you like me?" note.
  3. Haaaaaaaaaaa! The computer nerd picture. "I am Meph, VORP you!"
  4. Cot's usually has a solid spreadsheet of future payroll obligations... https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tt7HjIernphaSrv4wMWdUYg&output=html Soriano, Marmol, and DeJesus are the only MLB contract obligations next year playing for the Cubs it seems. The rest is arbitration and other money tied up elsewhere (i.e. Gerardo Concepcion)
  5. Sorry, wasn't trying to insult you. It's still a cool ball. I'm just really anal about my autographs lol. I agree. My parents have a ball that has autographs on it from Ryne Sandebrg (!), Bill Murray(!!!), and... Turk Wendell :(
  6. Other Chicago related Q&A's from his chat...
  7. Wouldn't it make more sense to limit pitch counts instead of innings?
  8. I'd be tempted by a package surrounding Bauer/Skaggs as well. Saw Bauer pitch a couple weeks ago, he's incredible. I don't think the D-Backs move either of them though. I think they'd move one of Hudson, Kennedy, Cahill before moving either of those two.
  9. Really? You don't understand how injuries work? You think he was "drummed out" of baseball instead? Yeah, there was a conspiracy to not sign Todd Walker...good call. IIRC, it wasn't injuries. He was poor defensively, there were whispers about him being a problem in the clubhouse (although others said he was a great teammate), and his bat was slipping. After the Padres cut him to save the arbitration award, he got a chance with Oakland. Once Oakland got rid of him, he refused to go the minors, and that was just it. I don't now if anybody ever called him (he said he was open to returning) but even if they did it must not have guaranteed enough for him to want to leave his families. IIRC, Todd Walker could never turn down an interview and was always very candid about what went on in the clubhouse and always shared stuff he probably shouldn't have with the media.

  11. One of the greatest plays I've seen made at 3B came from Todd Walker when he was on the Padres when he made a jumping diving stop on a sharply hit grounder into foul territory and to beat the runner, simply elevated himself and to bring his arm around and threw under his body over to first and nailed the runner to get him out. I wish there were video somewhere of that.
  12. I think more poetic justice would be the Cardinals having to bring him in to pitch in an 18-inning marathon only to have a batter hit a line drive off of his head, and then all that awesome stuff you just said.
  13. Bad joke, perhaps. I'm sincerely going to miss him wearing a Cubs uniform
  14. Late to the party. So long, Mr. Wood. It's been quite a ride. May you fall out of as many hot tubs as your heart desires.
  15. I think he was an equal opportunity drug abuser
  16. His last name is stupid and is spelled completely wrong. He should go back to Dutchville with all the Dutch people where they make butter and [expletive].
  17. No more worried than I was to bring Milton Bradley from Arlington to Wrigley. Or Marlon Byrd. I read that to assume he was referring to the nightlife? Bingo I would think living in Texas would drive a man to destroy his life with drugs and alcohol more so than living in Wrigleyville would tempt a man to indulge. To be fair, Arlington is in the greater Dallas area, which isn't exactly a quaint little town of pleasantries. I'm sure he has as many temptations there as he would in Chicago.
  18. Not swing away, pull the bat back and slash at the pitch. In theory it's a nice concept, in practice it's a great way to get behind in the count. Let your best hitters hit. I think he should've pulled back with the intent on slapping a line drive into Lance Berkman's stupid, fat, charging face.
