  1. Should have added "Is not old enough to rent a car" under the three babies one just to accentuate the awfulness of that. Addison Russell is panhandle trash.
  2. YOU'RE DOING THE LORDS WORK, KRIS.
  3. Yeah, wanting to have Cano on your team still makes sense from a production standpoint. The money thing is weird especially considering there were rumors the Mets were entertaining offers for Syndergaard and others, if I recall. If they were on the brink of a sell-off this doesn't seem to signal that and is a weird direction to take by absorbing a ton of cash onto their payroll. If you're gonna spend that much there are probably better options out there than taking on the salary of a guy who, while good, probably isn't meeting the expectations his salary would suggest. Diaz is the real get here. I'm actually really pissed they up and got him because I know Seattle was doing a sell-off but they didn't really have an incentive to move Diaz since he was still under team control through 2022 and wasn't hitting arbitration until 2020. If Diaz was a known available commodity I can't imagine other teams weren't in on him and I can't believe this is the best deal that they needed him to be in. He was worth 3.5 fWAR this year. That would've been the 3rd best fWAR on the entire Cubs roster this season. And he's a reliever. That's horsefeathering insane. Every team in baseball should've been in on him if the M's were making him available.
  4. I mean, we pretty much did that for Lester, so... ETA and Ohtani last season.
  5. That two-timing son of a bitch!
  6. Highest career WAR of anyone in the HOF except Clemens, Bonds, A-Rod, and Pujols. I feel like Beltre had the quietest HOF career in my lifetime. I think you're missing a "not" in there
  7. He injured his foot on his celebration hops towards home plate. Initially thought he might have broken his foot, but results came back negative, so he appears to have dodged a bullet there. [tweet] [/tweet]
  8. Not in mind bending Threeeeeeeeee Deeeeeeeee
  9. Holy horsefeathers that's the horsefeathering best
  10. Las Vegas Sun Armadillo Mantises
  11. Holmes Beach Snow Aardvarks
  12. I mentioned it elsewhere, but going by ERA+, since 2004 the best 5 year runs are Kershaw (somewhere in the absurd 170+ range), Johan Santana (154) then Kluber (152 I believe). Couldn't think of anyone else that has performed better over a consecutive stretch since 2004. Originally I said 2000, but Pedro and RJ were bonkers at the turn of the century. Point is, Kluber is one of the 5 or so best pitchers we've seen this century so far.
  13. Speaking of dogs, I endorse the The Dog Haus on Lincoln. It's probably going to shut down within the next half a year because no one is ever there, but their options are really damn good and they have chili cheese tots and a great beer selection. But no one goes so... They're dead in the water, but Chicagoans should try them before they leave.
  14. I just moved to a place right behind a Jets Pizza. I know it's chain pizza, but I like Detroit style deep dish and if I'm going chain im just gonna walk 200 feet to Jets and get a few slices. That said, Art of Pizza is like two more blocks away so I don't know what's wrong with me other than being a lazy fatty fat fatpants. That said a nice thin crust bar pizza is satisfying after several rounds of drinks thanks to it not having 7 pound of ingredients on it (specifically at the side street saloon)
  15. Pequods all the way
  16. To be fair, Johan Santana, at the time, was on the block with the assumption whoever he got traded to he would sign an extension with and he was also on a 5-year run as the best pitcher in baseball that, since 2000, I think only Kershaw has bested and Kluber has come up a smidge short of matching. Santana was pitching Jesus. But yeah, that offer is garbage
  17. Just curious, what does the next class look like? Most notable names that matter: Mike Trout Mookie Betts George Springer EDIT: Springer will be on the wrong side of 30 then. He won't matter. That's it. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/free-agents/2021/
  18. I like how if the Red Sox Yankees or Dodgers go over the threshold it's just "well they're rich" but if the Cubs do it people turn into a bizarro council member from Sim City 2000. "YOU CAN'T VIOLATE THE LUXURY TAX, YOU WILL REGRET THIS!"
  19. I think everyone is just looking at their payroll situation and thinking "There's no way they can go any higher, they'll get penalized!!!!" And not taking into consideration that maybe the Cubs just don't give a horsefeathers about getting penalized right now.
  20. Maybe he left because he was just like, you know, not wanting to work with a racist bigot.
  21. He "rejuvenated" the offense for like a week, Theo. Come on, you're smarter than this. Literally, the only reason I can imagine, because the numbers aren't very supportive of that statement.
  22. ?? Errr...Logan...derp. I read your post right before that...whoops. I thought you were referring to David's replacement of Addison with Bote in his signature, which I just noticed.
