  1. Frighteningly so.
  2. Accurate. Was born in 83, Disco was pretty dead by the time I was forming cognitive memories and getting into music myself so I only was ever exposed to it through those exact pop culture references. And the only time I ever saw people on modern shows lamenting the disco era it was white people interacting with other white people about it (i.e. that Freaks and Geeks episode)
  3. Reading that article is the first time I've ever seen the viewpoint that hating on disco was considered an afront against African Americans, Hispanics, and Homosexuals. The only people I ever associated with disco was milquetoast white people in leisure suits. I realize a lot of disco-era songs became anthemic for a lot of cultures, but I never thought hating disco was because of that, I just assumed people hated it because it was nails on a chalkboard to them. Is this a popular viewpoint that I've just been completely oblivious to or is this some old unpopular hot take that's being resurrected in times of heightened sensitivity?
  4. Someone not on the list but should be worth mentioning: Jorge Soler hit his 17th home run today. Entering the game he still had a sub .800 OPS, a 104 OPS+ and an OBP below .300. So he's not exactly a wizard at the plate. But he's crushing dongs like we always thought he would.

  7. Let's assume they don't pick up his option and his biggest payday winds up the $5.5 million in his last year. For reference, Yonder Alonso put up a 0.7 fWAR last year and that was worth 5.8 million according to FG. This was Alonso's line last year: That's what Bote needs by today's financial standards in order to match what his contract will be worth at its most expensive guaranteed payout. He needs to be marginally acceptable in order to make his most expensive year worth it. And if he fizzles out and craps the bed, big whoop, it's not a ton of money lost. This is a killer contract.
  8. "I saw Carlos Gomez using it and I liked it a lot so I took it and now we're in an eternal struggle for title supremacy and one day when we meet in the heavens we will have the ultimate showdown for God's favor"

  10. Yeah I remember in the even years he would be garbage but in the odd years he'd be REALLY garbage.
  11. Holy horsefeathers that was glorious
  12. Schwarber Fan needs to change his name to Cubs Fan
  13. I mean... I get it. It's horsefeathering stupid, but I get it.
  14. Josh Bell is doing what he can, dammit: [tweet] [/tweet] I didn't realize how insanely good he's been this year until a few days ago.
  15. I'm aware of the rules on adds and drops but what's the ruling on Take-Backsies?
  16. I had those last week
  17. To be fair, I thought the same thing about Gleyber Torres then he showed up and hit the same amount of home runs in 123 major league games that it took him to hit in 373 minor league games. Baseball is unpredictable. But Milwaukee's history of top middle infield prospects has been... not good for them. Huira has a different offensive profile than those players though. Escobar and Arcia were glove first whose bats never truly came around. Huira's bat looks ready to go. Don't know much about his defensive profile
  18. Really regretting giving up on Bryant for Bellinger.
  19. Well this move is holding up well one week later
  20. A particularly cruel game during middle school for us was when, on the bus, you catch some unsuspecting person from behind and slam their heads into the bus window.
  21. I know people who played, but I never did. Also, it was never about your balls, it was just getting someone to look at it below your waist wherever you could catch them looking
  22. Who wants to watch a 3 1/2 hour ball game in Miami during gorgeous tropical warm weather? Also Cubs fans. Suck it, Marlins.
  23. Yeah but he couldnt even hit a 2 run HR in the 9th yesterday. We needed 2 runs and he could only give us 1. He learned by watching Aramis.
