  1. I want the Cubs to lose out every remaining game just so Baseball Prospectus can use a REAL smug "I told you so" quote/factoid on the cover of their next year's predictions, along with Cubs players and officials who scoffed at it.
  2. Last active in September 2016. Always enjoyed his insights and contributions when he was more active.
  3. STOP PUTTING KIMBRELL IN NON SAVE SITUATIONS, JOE, YOU horsefeathering USELESS [expletive]
  4. Picked a real winner to attend for my first of the year.
  5. I'm going to the game tonight, can't wait to watch a masterful pitching performance...
  6. Betances after tearing his achilles:
  7. [tweet] [/tweet]
  8. I don't even care if he gives up more runs, let him K mf'ers all night. His pitch count is solid
  9. At least MLB still allows wife beaters on the field to uphold the integrity of the game
  10. Meh. Hudson doesn't overpower and Flaherty has nothing in his delivery or injury history that says he will drop off the map. He's only getting better. Hicks is getting his Tommy John out of the way now so he will be good. Reyes already got his out of the way, so anything from him is a bonus. Perfect mechanics, you say? Famous last words. Pitchers will break your heart, Charlie
  11. Encarnacion just returned from a hairline wrist fracture. He was out about a month without needing surgery
  12. Former Dodgers General Manager Ned Colletti just got a new job as a scout... *record scratch* for the San Jose Sharks
  13. TIL we acquired Danny Hultzen at some point
  14. That's way more than semi interesting. Don't think we've heard an admission like that about anything before. Since I'm a complete Astros-are-somehow-cheating truther, I choose to believe Verlander wouldn't have done what he's doing there were he in Chicago, but man, if he could've. I don't know what the Astros are doing either, but Verlander's K rates spiked in Houston just like it did for Cole and Morton and others. I'm not convinced the same would've happened in Chicago. I want to know their secret.
  15. Unless I missed someone, anyone talking about Bryant and the Indians have been talking about moving the return from trading Bryant elsewhere to the Indians. Then I misunderstood. Lot's of "replace Bryant with Lindor" talk without much "in between" talk Samesies, my bad.
  16. Has anyone even bothered to mention the whole conundrum of why the Indians would even trade Lindor for Bryant in the first place? Jose Ramirez is already a more valuable 3B than Bryant and adding him would push him to a corner OF spot where his value sinks a bit while creating a soul crushing gap at SS for Cleveland and the Indians wind up probably paying more money for Bryant for the same amount of team control. Trying ot get Lindor without Bryant, like Tom was talking about makes more sense obviously, but the Indians have no more reason to trade Lindor than the Cubs have to trade Bryant.
  17. Related video to Joe's crush on Washington's lineup:
  18. We paid $184M for a Frank Robinson we got a Frank n Beans He hits like a utility infielder. Sure injuries, his wrists, etc. It's the worst FA signing in the history of baseball. Worse than the Josh Hamilton, Carl Crawford and Barry Zito signings times 10. Well that’s just not true No, he's right. It's definitely worse than all those, as well as Ryan Howard, BJ Upton, Mike Hampton, Chris Davis, Pablo Sandoval, Homer Bailey, Vernon Wells, Yasmany Tomas, Rusney Castillo, and pretty much every other contract on this list here: https://www.sportsbreak.com/mlb/the-20-worst-contracts-in-baseball-history/
  19. I tried that here, no dice, unfortunately. It was originally on gfycat but that just wasn't working. Either way, that's a wonderful bat flip
  20. Oh man, Turner and Matusz I was irrationally excited about. Here we had a great pitching coach who just fixed Arrieta and two arms that were once elite prospects. I was convinced one of them would be salvaged and turned into something special. Some guys just suck horribly.
  21. https://i.imgur.com/Kcqdt0e.mp4 Side note: I wish this board had the ability to embed non-gif related content because a lot of that stuff is moving toward web video formats. Tried to find a gif of this but it only exists in mp4 formats which don't auto play or work well here
  22. lol like 16 or 17 of those outs in Detroit would be dongs in Wrigley. Dude had a legitimate gripe about playing there, I'm glad he made his frustrations known and got himself shipped out to the Cubs
  23. I would argue that him having a history of getting injured every year he's been in the majors since 2009 is what killed him
  24. Since Schwarber qualifies at catcher wouldn't he be the #1 catcher option and not Sanchez? Not that it really matters, but something I noticed.
  25. It's awesome to see him still playing and having some life to his fastball still, but I looked up his numbers and he's got a 4.82 ERA, so... probably not gonna happen any time soon if he can't keep indie league hitters at bay.
