  1. I'll try. Rich has been viewed by the organization as a mentally fragile for quite some time. Their solution to dealing with a mentally fragile pitcher is to mess with his mechanics at the first sign of wildness in spring training. Thus getting a guy who's already thinking too much to think even more every time he takes the mound. After their tinkering didn't work, Lou decided to berate him and embarrass him by pulling him at the first sign of trouble, and never let him work out of any trouble he got into. So, do you actually believe that? Or were you just trying to tailor your post to the Lou/Rothschild thing?
  2. Mixing and matching adjectives is fun What? "Collapse" is a noun. Yes. You should probably look up "prolific" in the dictionary. It makes absolutely no sense to describe a collapse as prolific. You're right here. I meant to use "prodigious" and I ended up getting the words mixed up. Haven't had my coffee yet this morning. I will go back and edit the post, as I want this particular Internet forum to uphold the highest standards of grammar and usage. P.S. Regardless, you're kind of an [expletive]. And yet you're the one with the personal attack. Stop it. I never said *I* wasn't an [expletive].

  5. If trading Gallagher as a centerpiece can get the Cubs CC Sabathia, this should be done already.
  6. I do. He'd cost us a ton of runs in left, which would mitigate a lot of his offense. I know many people are against this idea because of the off-field reasons, but I'm against it because I'm not so sure Bonds is the 1.000 OPS lock that many of you think he is. He's been away from the game for almost a year, he's almost 44 years old and he's probably not in game shape. I think he'd still be able to put up decent numbers -- maybe a ~.900 OPS. But with his awful defense and the other potential headaches, I don't think it's worth it.
  7. This might be an even more PRODIGIOUS collapse than Rick Ankiel. Not as high-profile, but it's totally mind-boggling.
  8. Yes, that's what he said.
  9. Just let it go, man. It's the Social thread and it's all pretty much on the same topic.
  10. With Edmonds hitting like he is, and Soriano coming back, this lineup is going to be absurd. Soriano Fukudome Lee Ramirez Babe Ruth Soto DeRosa Theriot
  11. A. Its not like Roberts was opposed to the deal. I dont see where your going here. B. Mediocre at best Hey Tyrant! For heaven sakes, stop smacking your lips! In answer to LLF post... I know Roberts wasn't opposed to being traded to the Cubs --in fact, he welcomed it. I'm just hoping that now he's experienced a true baseball atmosphere with the greatest fans in the world, that he'll go to Peter Angelos's house and ask that the O's trade him to the North Siders immediately. Hey Oscar Zamora! Learn how to reply!
  12. I bet he was thinking, "Hey, Lou! Stop smacking your lips so much!"
  13. I got this as a spam e-mail today, I think.
  14. he'll be booed because he's on the Cubs now plus he said some negative things when they traded him I remember when John Mabry first returned... he got a standing O. John Mabry. Edmonds will be cheered pretty loudly. BEST FANS IN BASEBALL I don't get this. Where and why did this start? I think it started with Cardinals fans thinking they were the best fans in baseball because they all wore red and gave standing ovations for sacrifice bunts. After a while, other people started to believe it.

  16. All evidence to the contrary. For a left fielder? Absolutely. He was 24. And at 25 he put up a sub-.800 OPS, with a better than typical ratio of at bats against LHP that should've boosted his numbers. Now he's 26 and he's not hitting even at Iowa. He's backslid, and he doesn't have age and salary(as much as before) to help his value going forward. Bingo.
  17. As far as I know, Penny has not looked anywhere close to right this year. Nope. he's been terrible and now has shoulder problems. It would be best to stay away from him. Agreed. His best days are behind him. But he's been behind Eliza Dushku. So, bonus for him.
  18. I'd like to see it, just for the comedy of him trying to turn a double play.
  19. Aren't these guys professional athletes? Shouldn't they be used to heckling? What the hell is their problem? They're also human beings who get annoyed when people yell insulting things at them for hours on end. Forgive me if I don't feel sorry for them. I never said you should feel sorry for them. I just said you shouldn't expect them to stand there and pretend it's not happening. If you can yell at them, why aren't they allowed to respond?

  21. I don't think that should be a concern to anyone.
  22. What?...... How did you come up with any of that? abuck hates the Cubs. He's just here for the chicken wings. He's like a self-hating Jew.
  23. I think the Brewers are far more likely, just because they have prospects the Indians would actually want. The Cubs have nothing.
