    Like Wood and DeRosa? Hendry has done a terrible job this offseason. He's single handily destroying this roster. Wood and DeRosa are actually good players.

    We already did that by depending on a injury prone pitchers like rich harden, Carlos Zambrano and Ted Lilly and trading for Kevin Gregg and Aaron Heilman. Meanwhile the Cards traded for the greatest SS ever. You don't know how close to true you are. Things could go very bad very quickly for the Cubs Harden pulls a Prior Z is a shell of himself after all the Dusty innings pile up Dempster becomes Dempster Lilly stays the same Kevin Gregg couldn't throw strikes last year and Lou hates relief pitchers who cannot throw strikes Marmol had a terrible winter in the Caribbean If Bradley goes down Fukudome moves back to RF and we have The Car Hopper and Facial Hair manning CF It's a worst case but it's not that far outside of the realm of possiblility If the entire Cubs' locker room contracts bacterial meningitis and the Iowa Cubs have to come up the replace everyone except Paul Bako, the Cubs will not be very good.

    I think Hendry is just making it a point to trade away all the players that NSBB overrates. Pie, Cedeno, Hill and Wuertz. Anyone else left?

Did you know the singer is the lead singer from the band Survivor? How did you transition from talking about a great movie, Real Genius, to the real men of genius commercials? It's such a fine line.

    ben sheets is the obvious answer. randy wolf, kris benson... there's three off the top of my head. want me to name more? Kris Benson? He hasn't pitched in the majors in two years, he's 34 and he stunk to high heaven in Triple-A last year. You really think he's better than Marquis?

    I highly doubt it. Spending $900 million on a sports franchise after a nearly two-year process isn't the same as you buying an iPod at Target on a whim.

    Thanks, Ricketts. You're a dream come true for us, Cub fans. Read the sentence again. "It is possible Ricketts would oppose any deal involving Peavy ..." It is also possible that Meph will someday actually satisfy a woman, but that's just speculation, too. I don't think this definitively reflects Ricketts' thinking.

    None of these things have any bearing on the Cubs' probable win total, since Pie and Ceda likely weren't going to contribute anything significant to the Cubs in 2009. Or ever, arguably.

    Do we send a sample clip to them? Ryan Howard went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs on Saturday night against the Padres. Wow. Holy crap. Stunning. Howard has been on an absolute tear over the last three weeks, mashing the ball to the tune of .298/.378/.517. Hopefully you own him in your league, or at least know someone who does. Enjoy the ride while it lasts.

    Are you saying those two are similar? Isn't there a significant difference in evaluating those lines in relation to the strikeouts? All else being equal (which is the case here at least in the stats listed) I thought making contact was better than not. Edmonds had previously been good in the majors before. Granted, he had sucked something terrible earlier in the season in San Diego, but at least there was evidence he could hit at the major league level.
