  1. Carolina getting chippy... tired of getting their butts kicked
  2. never did get Rome, unfortunately. And I don't think I need to drop Cairo or the D, but will be fully prepared to do so
  3. That bad throw to Moore seems like the result of Caleb being exhausted from the last 2 plays
  4. I know Carolina sucks, but I just want to point out that I dropped Swift from my fantasy team before the Rams game, and this week I dropped Caleb. Also, he is in complete control of this offense. It looks great. Wish we would have played Carolina earlier in the season, but I think this will help him take off
  5. My theory is that it's harder than we think for even good players (not the great ones) to produce on really bad teams. The losing has to wear on these guys over the course of such a long season.
  6. Yeah, I would expect Kirby to cost at least as much as Miller or Woo. Also, I bet Castillo may be a bit more willing to waive his NTC than the average guy, if for no other reason than to pick his destination before he loses that option next year.
  7. As much as I would like to see this, I won't believe it til i see it. I just don't think they'll take Dansby or Nico out of the lineup that much unless it's injury related. However, they have shown a tendency to get banged up enough that Shaw can get plenty of ABs so I'm not opposed to him opening the season in the majors. Though I might prefer he stays in AAA with a guy like Vazquez in the bigs til an injury pops up or performance forces the issue.
  8. That's a foolish take. If Juan Soto says, "I want to sign with you, if you'll just put an opt-out in there for me after year x." You put the opt-out in. Even if it's after year 1, you put it in because you get to have Juan Soto for a year and he's going to make your baseball team a lot better
  9. If Soto wants an opt out, you give it to him. Heck, if Soto says he will sign, but we have to replace the ivy with cushioned walls and demands a stipulation in his contract that he gets to take a dump in Pat Hughes' personal bathroom in the 5th inning of every game, you give it to him. Pay the man whatever money he wants and watch him blast majestic dongs. (Of course I know he's not coming here, but it almost certainly will be about the money we offer and the fact that the Cubs havent been very good since like 2017, not opt outs)
  10. So, the entire NL and AL Central divisions except for the Cubs and White Sox are without a TV deal for next year... yikes
  11. hasn't he been missing some practice time with a back injury? May just be rest, but it's probably not nothing
  12. Yeah, i intentionally left that part out, and the fall from that season to the last 3 is obviously a huge part of the reason for change. But it's a fun juxtaposition when it seems like Jed's job has never been considered in jeopardy even when having basically the same results
  13. Yeah, even a 90-100 wRC+ at the C position is a positive
  14. The Giants have won 36 more regular season games since the pandemic-shortened season than the Cubs.
  15. both former Panthers!
  16. looked like he barely got his shin on replay... definitely a yellow, but no way that should be a red. But Fernandes would have been down for like 15 minutes if that happened to him
  17. Purdue fired their OC
  18. great punt, but man, can't have those penalties from Kmet
  19. I dropped Swift in both of my fantasy leagues last week. You're welcome, Bears
  20. both of their lines were really dominant last night, I was impressed with Illinois in general, but PSU just had too much talent
  21. I love that they got him a standing ovation (and that he deserved it for his performance today) but I wish he could have kept going. Let him go for a CG.
  22. The Cubs 40 man roster is currently at 46 with the guys on the 60-day IL. Of those 46, here are the ones I find to be somewhere between definitely gone and easily replaceable: Hendricks Wingenter Mastrobuoni Luis Vazquez Wisdom Smyly Bethancourt Colton Brewer Alzolay Almonte Brennen Davis Madrigal Killian Herget Hollowell Mervis That takes us to 30 names. Other names on there that are certainly not set in stone to be on the roster (trade bait?) Wesneski Tauchman Bellinger Keegan Thompson Merryweather Palencia Arias Alcantara (I'd love to keep him, but given our OF situation and his potential as a trade chip...) Canario That's down to 21 names that I would consider near locks to be on the Cubs' 40-man next year. Yes, plenty of those guys will stick around, but there is obviously plenty of room to cut bait with a guy or two and get Owen Caissie some ABs in the majors
  23. that Athletic article was eye opening. Such a bad organization. Also, it's absolutely hilarious that they can't pick higher than 10th (or whatever it is)
  24. pretty sure Sean's dad used to post here back in the day
