  1. I loved hearing that from him. Basically said that it's within the rules and it's in the best long-term interests of the team so Boras needs to shut his mouth. Now if we could just get Manfred (and yeah, the MLBPA) to implement the DH in the NL we can toss Schwarber in there and dong everyone else into the L column for years.
  2. not sure how I feel about McDonald... I mean, I know he's a pretty good player and a good fit for Fangio's D, but with his legal issues I feel he's one step away from Goodell bringing down a big punishment and I don't want to count on a guy who could have something like that happen.
  3. I think he will start with the big league team. Having said that, I think if they were to send Javy down for a couple of weeks and let him beat up some AAA pitchers with KB and called them both up at the same time it could take some pressure off of Javy. Now, the problem with that would be if he goes down and struggles, it would create some serious issues. Ultimately, like I said above I think he starts in MLB, but it's an option I thought about.
  4. A: Mike Trout B: Edwin Encarnacion, Miguel Cabrera C: Marcell Ozuna, Paul Goldschmidt, Evan Gattis D: Robinson Cano, Mark Trumbo, Bryce Harper, Hanley Ramirez, Chase Headley
  5. Can only do the first part because of a time crunch, but I've got it like this: Utah North Carolina West Virginia Arkansas SMU Butler Georgetown Providence Ohio State Michigan State SDSU Iowa Cincinnati VCU Davidson Oregon
  6. think it's available thru mlb.tv
  7. Soler, Baez, Bryant and Russell all in the same lineup... I love it
  8. yeah, no way Murray State has an argument to be in
  9. I thinkk that would be a good get... Could play center or either guard spot, which could allow Long to kick out to RT maybe if they're satisfied with Garza/DLP (is he still with the Bears) at Center
  10. Yeah, to me the bigger punishment is by far the scholarship reductions... gonna have to hit on basically every guy to have a good team. Of course, Boeheim will probably be gone before the sanctions actually come down.
  11. http://t.co/VCDAnFkMpw NCAA came down fairly hard on Syracuse... Boeheim suspended 9 ACC games next year, loss of 3 scholarships per year for next 4 years, recruiting restrictions next 2 years. Some other stuff too, but those are the ones that matter for the future.
  12. and go After Suh to anchor the d-line? While i'd love this, I think Suh can and will get more money elsewhere, and I think it would be better to get an impact defender at 7 and try to get a receiver in the 2nd or 3rd like a Devin Smith, Dorial Green-Beckham (though I doubt they'd take him with suspension issues in college) Jaelen Strong, Justin Hardy, someone like that
  13. I've got the same one-bid leagues, so to be considered for at-large berths: Those above are ordered roughly from most on the bubble to safest within the conference (in my opinion, of course)
  14. saw the post on the official Blackhawks Twitter account that said "Remember this moment Brent? Yeah, we do, too. Thanks for the memories! " and before seeing the picture thought Seabrook had been traded... turns out Sopel retired officially.
  15. Shoot, didn't even realize Gregory hadn't been taken there... I'd take him over Ray.
  16. If that is how it falls, I want Ray
  17. Schwarber looks like a beast
  18. In fairness, his favorite team is the Cardinals in Hell, he just cheers for the Cubs while the CiH build their roster.
  19. edit: beaten by Banedon, naturally but that takes another intriguing option off the table for the Bears... looking more and more like we'll end up with Fox.
  20. Pretty sure he signed an extension this spring
  21. Teams would be crazy to pass on him in the latter half of Rd 1 Agree with WF22 here... I would almost have to consider taking him at 7 if he fell to the Bears, though if he did I would hope more for a trade up from a team like Houston who really needs a QB. He may come with a lot of baggage, but in that baggage you'll also find an incredible amount of talent. Sometimes those guys work out work out (Randy Moss) sometimes they don't (Lawrence Phillips, and plenty of others)
  22. I don't know if there are any reports of Lovie considering Trestman, but it does appear he met McCown in Clearwater. Maybe they're just good buds. I know we now have reports of an interview, but I like to think it was partly McCown's way of saying thanks for the big contract
  23. going off of the numbers baseball think factory's ballot collector has, Biggio getting in and Bagwell not coming all that close would be an absolute joke. Biggio's last well above average season was 2001 (OPS+ of 111, bbrefWAR 3.2). After that season he collected another 911 hits, including 130 in his final season where he recorded a Nefii-esque -2.1 WAR and an OPS+ of 71. Bagwell's worst single season was his last- when he only played 39 games and got 123 PA, and he still put up an OPS+ of 94 and 0.3 WAR. His 2 worst seasons otherwise (according to BB Ref WAR) are both 3.7 WAR
