  1. Trying to decide if I need to make plans to go find a place to watch the games or not... Can I watch postseason games on MLB.tv with a valid subscriber login even if I live in the blackout area? If so, will it only be for the games listed here? Trying to decide if it is worth it or not to buy and/or if I need to make plans to watch elsewhere as I do not have the proper tier of cable and don't want to hassle with subscribing for a month and then unsubscribing. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/subscriptions/#game-grid
  2. https://theringer.com/kyle-hendricks-chicago-cubs-2016-mlb-playoffs-ffd1fe19614a#.8d53mzz4q Article on The Ringer website about Hendricks. It mentions a stat I found amazing: In his 30 starts this year, he never gave up more than 4 runs or went less than 5 innings.
  3. I am ok with any scenario that results in Daniel Murphy not winning something, because horsefeathers that guy.
  4. My only prediction: Cubs bludgeon the Rangers in a WS sweep, resulting in the Rangers ending the year with a negative run differential overall.
  5. If he moves out of CF, wouldn't he probably get a bit of a boost by playing RF? He's still a pretty stellar athlete, even if not the same as when he broke in.
  6. My reasoning wasn't parent-imposed, but I too played football in HS (thought not as successfully as you, I did earn 3 varsity letters and was a full-time starter for 2 years on decent teams) after only starting to play in 7th grade. I started playing because my HS did not offer soccer and I wanted to play a fall sport. I agree that the head start in skills is not worth the physical risk. In all honesty, I would be a little relieved if my son never wanted to play, but I certainly won't let him until 6th or 7th grade at the earliest.
  7. that would be a real ballsy move for a relative neophyte like Pace with a terrible track record to try and pull off. Give a veteran head coach a garbage team and back-to-back wasted first round picks and then kick him to the curb when things go predictably bad, only to give the job to the coach whose team has been falling apart for nearly as long as the Bears have and largely because of a poor "pro personnel decisions", which was your department at that team. True, then again, if he's picking a QB with a high pick thats all thats really going to matter in evaluating him. Then again it's a bold prediction because it has like 1% chance happening. Bold prediction number two. We keep Fox until he retires due to heart issues. This I put at better odds. 25% Maybe Fox will go full Lou Brown and have a heart attack while ripping his team this year...
  8. Read the story about Theo from Wright Thompson... after doing so I'm about 95% sure that Theo is responsible for "Jed's" Twitter account
  9. Or maybe Jimmy G just has a good amount of talent himself, and when surrounded by good talent and good coaching, it looks that much better. Brady is probably one of the top 2 or 3 QBs to ever play the game.
  10. Gotta figure Montgomery is getting a shot at the rotation next spring, right?
  11. I get that it would be more valuable for Jorge to play the outfield, but what would be so awful about the guy being a DH only? I mean, most teams seem to use their DH as a platoon spot or a spot for older guys to get rest days anymore. Why not get a young guy you can plug in at DH as long as he's healthy and be pretty confident he's going to hit some glorious dongs and not have to worry about him making a fool of himself in the field? I mean, to me that's still pretty darn valuable. To me, that would be worth more than a guy who can play a passable LF but hits like Avisail Garcia.
  12. I doubt the Yankees really had a choice between the two. I think that's Yankee spin to make it look like they got an even better deal even when they already got a good one
  13. I was sitting here telling my family that's what was coming. So awesome Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. And that probably doesn't include the KB ASG dong
  15. I will root for Chapman to be amazing. I hope that we treat him like the Brewers treated Sabathia. Throw him every time you possibly can for as long as he dominates. Then, let his scumbag self go in the offseason after we've hopefully won a WS. Look, even if he never put his hands on a woman (which is incredibly unlikely) he never denied discharging his weapon in the garage, which might even be scarier for a woman to know that he blows off steam by firing his gun and having to think that maybe one day he will blow his top and turn the gun toward her. I hate that we are now tied to this lunatic, but as long as he is here he might as well pitch great.
  16. someone asked earlier about the STL reaction... this didn't come from their boards, but I was listening to some radio here in the STL area and they painted the trade as the Cubs giving up two of their top 5 prospects... I about did a spit take. McKinney hasn't been a top 5 Cubs prospect in how long?
  17. My guess: screaming at Ventura because he's a moron and demanding to be traded from such a terrible franchise
  18. no mention of mike conley? goodness, not sure how I forgot that... 5 years, 30.6 AAV... Conley is a very good PG, but yeah that's crazy money. For that matter, DeRozan is making 27.8 AAV over 5 also and Hassan Whiteside 24.5 AAV over 4
  19. Butler will make an AAV of just over $18 million over the next 4 years, free agents who will earn a similar AAV or higher: Timofey Mozgov, Ian Mahinmi (16) Evan Fournier (17) Luol Deng, Joakim Noah, Bismack Biyombo (18) Nicolas Batum(24!) Harrison Barnes, Chandler Parsons (23.5) Kent Bazemore, Evan Turner (17.5 Ryan Anderson (20) Bradley Beal (25.6) Fournier, Beal, and Batum are on 5 year deals, everyone else on 4 year deals...
  20. I'm not saying this is Cardinals-related, but I'm also not not saying that... 23 dumpster fires in STL last night [tweet] [/tweet]
  21. When fowler comes back it will make a big difference to have him in the lineup over Almora Jr. He doesn't have to be first couple myths Dex to give a huge boost at the top. 2015 Dex would be plenty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. So who do you think is the source of these "rumors" of Jurgen to Southampton or England or anywhere but here? Is it Sunil trying to get rid of him? Or maybe trying to prop him up in a "see, other people want him too" kind of thing? Is it Jurgen/his agent trying to get more job security somehow? Is it some other source within the USSF? Or is it people dumb enough to think he would actually be a good hire?
  23. well, if there was any shred of doubt, this makes it as official as official gets that this is Jimmy's team. Contracts: Calderon: 7.7MM expiring Lopez: 13.8, 14.4
  24. Feels like it, but that's probably recency bias. There have been at least 6 instances this season, including 3 by the Phillies alone... there was also a game against Pittsburgh that was not close and the Pirates scored their lone run in the bottom of the 8th
