  1. Granted it's been years since I looked into it, but wasn't there a time when the sports pack would basically give you everything on the RSN's BUT the good games? LIke CSN would give you the Sports Reporters and stuff but not the Bulls games? Or was that only for out-of-region RSN's?
  2. Again, you aren't circumventing EI. Bob doesn't get Dodger and Yankee games on their RSNs, he gets the 6 teams that have territorial rights in his area. Does you pay for that a la carte, or is it part of the "sports package"? I ask because, as I said earlier, DirecTV told me that I couldn't get FSN Pittsburgh here in Columbus. Bob would know, but I'm pretty sure it's a package thing, you can't pick the networks you want. I don't think it's cheap either. And to make sure I'm not misconstrued, I'm not saying that any of this is good. MLB is being shortsighted by being more beholden to RSNs than to its fans. However, it's a misnomer to say that there's legions of people who are incapable of watching territorial teams. I'm sure there are some, but most of the people who think they are out of luck are just unwilling to change cable companies or pay a big price to get the games(which illustrates the absurdity of it all). I just checked the DirecTV site, and I COULD get the Pittsburgh station, but only with the top tier channel package. In other words, Bob is loaded and spending mad money on his TV

  4. so what is the price of getting all the RSN's, and why would DirecTV allow you to do that and circumvent the EI package?
  5. yep. I can't watch any Cubs vs. Pirates game unless it's on WGN. I called DirecTV about it and asked if I could get FSN Pittsburgh and they said no
  6. it should, but then they still won't show you the games you're blacked out from. It makes zero sense.
  7. Randy Wells wasn't good enough for this pitching staff
  8. don't know about "worse", but not necessarily better. Your probably the only person here who thinks this is not better. I'm in wait and see mode. Your issue so far seems to be with the selection committee, but if there's 4 teams involved and not 2, it's still better. There is a far smaller chance of a deserving team being shut out. And I'll take a selection committee (the members of whom, it would appear, will be public) over some of the idiots voting in the Harris Poll, not to mention the blatant conflicts of interest in the coaches' poll, every time. the committee, yes, and also the inherent home field advantage for the SEC and PAC 12 schools
  9. Yep. If I upgraded to get CSN on my directv package, i'd get all the news and talk shows but not the baseball games. They black those out so you can't do a work around the EI package. And DirecTV feels in no way beholden to MLB's rules, meaning that just because MLB considers Columbus, OH to be in Pittsburgh's blackout area doesn't compel them to make FSN Pittsburgh available in Columbus
  10. I still don't see how this can be 'worse' than the BCS if the idea is to get more teams involved, especially considering we literally know nothing about this plan except a couple of dates and that there will be 2 more teams. don't know about "worse", but not necessarily better. Your probably the only person here who thinks this is not better. I'm in wait and see mode.
  11. Aside from the Seinfeld episode, a slogan totally unknown outside of people who lived in an area in NY and around NYC in the 90s and late 80s Wait...The Wiz was actually a real thing?!? It's in the same Jersey strip mall as Crazy Eddie's and Carvel

  13. and if the system is a broken mess (spoiler alert: it will be) we're now stuck with it for 12 years
  14. White Choi
  15. Apparently Davis has trademarked "uni-brow" or "fear the brow" or some such thing
  16. I didn't hear any Chicago accent there
  17. Yeah, it really is baffling the sheer number of people who seem convinced that so many prospects are going to break the right way for the Cubs. And that the entire roster will be built through the draft and trades
  18. Sullinger was red-flagged by several team doctors after his physical
  19. that post was like Duke Nukem Forever
  20. 1/10 Poor effort. Seems like something WSR would think was a funny troll post
  21. Agreed. I guess you'd hope Beal or Kidd-Gilchrist falls but I just don't see it. Cleveland is supposedly trying to move up to #2 to draft Beal, so he's almost guaranteed to be gone long before #7
  22. Whenever I hear Colin Cowherd on the radio, I picture Skip Bayless' face. Makes perfect sense if you think about it
  23. But in a 4 team scenario, it's possible (nay, likely) to have 2 teams from one conference represented, which means you would have the champions of a major conference completely left out. This also doesn't really give the Boise States or TCU's THAT much more of a chance. The committee is more likely to pick an 11-1 Ohio State over a 12-0 Boise.
