  1. In other news, why does your avatar look like a cropped photo of Kyle McLachlan getting "pleasured"?
  2. Where is the guy who said the White Sox were a sham now? C'mon haters! 5-0 Chicago! /still doesn't like the team, but has to reck-a-nize
  3. Unless Jabroni registered with another name, yes. Good ol' aparoche. he's been IMing me about 4 times a day with comments like "YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARRRRRDDDDD, YESSSSSSSSSSSS!" can't you ignore people on PM?
  4. Seriously? Hurt? THAT IS FRIGGING HILARIOUS I'm hearing mild hand cramps, so you can stop the happy dance Derwood. ;) Mr. Carpenter rented a little too much porn last night or something?
  5. Uh, no. You're more like Enrique Wilson. Not here in any kind of serious capacity. Oo, Ooh, which player am I?? Rich Hill. Just as Dusty's approach with Hill, after a couple of outings, we've seen enough to know everything there is about you, yet you just keep hanging around. Wow. Ouch, though. You asked....
  6. Seriously? Hurt? THAT IS FRIGGING HILARIOUS
  7. um, how do you beat none? um, Shut Up, that's how
  8. freakin' excubs! :x So which playoff team has the fewest ex-Cubs? They'll definitely win the Series. BOS (3): Matt Clement, Jeremy Gonzalez, Bill Mueller NYY (5): Tom Gordon, Mark Bellhorn, Rey Sanchez, Tony Womack, Matt Lawton LAA (0): **unless Curtis Pride???** CHW (1): Jon Garland STL (3): Ray King, Julian Tavarez, Mark Grudzielanek SD (2): Manny Alexander, Eric Young ATL (2): Kyle Farnsworth, Todd Hollandsworth HOU (1): Jose Vizcaino so by this logic: SD over STL HOU over ATL LAA over NYY CHW over BOS HOU over SD LAA over CHW HOU over LAA
  9. Because Corey performed far below expectations, while Neifi did pretty much what you thought he would given the playing time (and even drove in more runs than I would have laid money on)
  10. well, cincy and new york are SOOOOO much warmer than chicago in april
  11. Stone wasn't saying that the 120 games don't matter. He's saying that historically speaking, just about every team will win and lose 60. It's just what happens. So basically if you can put together a streak of good baseball over a 6-8 week span, the rest of the season can be .500 ball and you'll make the playoffs.
  12. I'm not sure who said it first, but Steve Stone quoted it a few times: "With few exceptions, every team is going to win 60 games and lose 60 games every year. It's what you do with the other 42 that spells the difference between success and failure." (seriously paraphrased) So, here is what all the MLB teams did with "The Other 42" this year: STL: 40-2 CHW: 39-3 LAA: 35-7 NYY: 35-7 BOS: 35-7 CLE: 33-9 ATL: 30-12 HOU: 29-13 OAK: 28-14 PHI: 28-14 NYM: 23-19 MIN: 23-19 FLA: 23-19 SD: 22-20 WSH: 21-21 MIL: 21-21 TOR: 20-22 CHC: 19-23 TEX: 19-23 ARZ: 17-25 SF: 15-27 BAL: 14-28 CIN: 13-29 LAD: 11-31 DET: 11-31 SEA: 9-33 PIT: 7-35 COL: 7-35 TB: 7-35 KC: 0-42 (only won 56 games)
  13. Today is the Padres chance. A red hot Peavy vs. a slumping Carpenter. If the Pads lose today, I call the sweep (as they have Pedro frigging Astacio going in Game 2)
  14. Knowing the Cubs, the very next news on the Marquee would say "Cubs sign Dusty for two more years!" If they put that there, why not just say, "Cubs clinch 100 year drought!" They are saving that one for a few years
  15. Remember, these writers gave the award to Terry Pendleton not so long ago. Trust no one!
  16. Stick around here all off season too! I'm sure all sorts of hilarity will ensue! Stay tuned to see which poster will be voted out of the tribe next week! In all seriousness, this site is great. I love being part of this community. If my 2000+ posts this summer alone didn't speak for themselves...
  17. oh, i think this league will be a comedy of errors
  18. multiple sources and articles (one of which i posted yesterday) have shot down the rumors of dusty going to LA.....sorry to pee on your parade
  19. Rose betting on baseball, on his own team, could have had a HUGE effect on games. did he bet on games he played or on games he managed? and betting doesn't tarnish the fact that he was statisically the most accomplished hitter of all time
  20. And the team is................................the Cardinals! They are relocating the New Jersey Cardinals here to Happy Valley. I'm so conflicted! On the one hand, i'm thrilled to be getting a minor league team (in a brand new stadium) just 3 miles from my house. On the other hand, it's the frigging Cardinals!
  21. Now that you mention it, there are criminally few division games in September. WTF? I hope this gets sorted out.
  22. And the Cubs played winning ball against THEIR division and where did that get them?
  23. How is this typical? Can you site other incidents similar to this from the White Sox this year? Every year for the past 4 years, the Sox telling the media that they're better than the Twins. "Magglio Ordonez is a Venezuelan #####! He's got an enemy (More ##### and more hateful obnoxiousness)" Buehrle's whining about the Rangers supposed cheating from a team whose fans would gloat for years about what a great sign stealer Nossek was. Guillen's whining at every single oppurtunity possible about everything and anything. If Podsednik's mediocre year didn't appeal so well to old-schoolers, I can't understand why anyone would root for this sham of a team. Sham? 99 win sham? C'mon, I know people hate the Sox, but a crappy team doesn't luck it's way into 99 wins. All those things you listed are inexcusable, but I could got item for item with the Cubs actions the past 2 years as well.
  24. I'm conflicted on this issue. Sometimes I think you need to separate the misdeeds from the good deeds in times of celebration. For example, I would have applauded Pete Rose at the "100 greatest players" celebration simply because of his baseball accomplishments. Remember Jim Gray getting killed by the players because he chose that moment to bring up the gambling again? Sometimes you need to let it go and give them their due for their on-the-field accomplishments. That said, Rose's gambling didn't affect his ability to hit the baseball or amass records. Andro/Roids could have done that for McGwire.
