  1. I know the Cubs record when they SUCK! It's 48-48
  2. Walker. I thought you were cool. What happened to you man?
  3. you'd feel real good right now with a 2-1 lead the way Z is pitching, but alas no. Nice, Z is getting the assists left and right tonight!
  4. We sent Corey down for grounding into double plays? No, we sent Corey down for swinging for the fences when he isn't a power hitter We are NOT getting into another "What kind of player is Corey Patterson?" debate. Good, that wasn't my intent. I was just venting my frustration at Walker for his inability to drive in runs when it looked like he was trying to hit 3 run homers instead of sac flies.
  5. We sent Corey down for grounding into double plays? No, we sent Corey down for swinging for the fences when he isn't a power hitter
  6. T-Walk hits a few homers in Cinci and he suddenly thinks he's Ken Griffey Jr. Didn't we send down Corey for this?
  7. She's not a fan? If I were going on a date tonight he would know to make sure there's a television around. Perhaps a resturant with a sportsbar/entertainment vibe like Dave & Buster's or ESPN Zone is in order? Just a thought. I can tell you from experience that watching the game on the TV instead of paying attention to the lady friend is a bad move.
  8. Just call me Derwood the Greek. Minus the racism.
  9. probably the wrong forum for this...
  10. 39 premium pages and counting... :willynilly: :willynilly: :willynilly: I think the mods need to pull a "Choi for Lee" style locking on all of these until something actually happens. It can't be helping the site's bandwidth. Agreed. I can't wait for the trade deadline, primarily to stop all these rumor threads and get back to the actual team we have on the field!
  11. See Cubs, we told you you sucked, and last night you proved it! Gonna suck again today? Eh, suckies?
  12. I voted Gerut. Major leaguer for a minor leaguer.
  13. Good morning! It's interesing to me that when Murton and Greenburg were called up, the specualtion was "This has to be a precursor to a trade/These guys won't last up here/WTF????" Now that a trade has been made, people are confused by the number of OF's on the team. Did anyone actually think Murton/Greenburg would last on the roster all year? Wasn't it clear that they were simply keeping the bench warm for someone else when Dubois/Patterson were sent down? I don't think it would have mattered if Murton hit 1.000 while up here, he still wasn't going to last the whole season (not that he's the one Gerut is replacing, just saying...) In summary, go back and read your posts when the AA guys were promoted and see how they jive with what you're saying now. I don't think they do.
  14. Any team's "third" uniform (ie Solid primary color instead of white or grey). I guess I'm just a traditionalist.
  15. Derwood's stat of the day: In 2005, the Cubs are 1-0 in games after they were 46-45.
  16. KRod and Miguel Cabrera say hello. Sure. And KRod shouldn't have even been allowed on the playoff roster since he was called up after September 1st. Its alwasy easy to pull up the exception to the rule.
  17. Wow. That would sink the Indians ship for sure. Why they would do that when they are within 4 or 5 of the wilcard is beyond me. Why their fascination with Randa? Geezus.
  18. It's not necessarily that the Reds want Jody, but Jody could be replacing whomever they do want. If Corey fits the bill, Jody could conceivably fill in at center for the rest of the season. And if Hairston is the "established major leaguer"... well, again, Jody in center. That sounds more like the scenario. I would sure hope that Dunn would raise his .245 average if he did come to Chicago. Not exactly his best season this year outside of the power.
  19. it's just speculation... I thought the Reds problem was a glut of OF's (Kearns, Pena, Dunn, Griffey). Why would they want another one who, if you believe posters here tonight, is inferior to all those guys?
  20. It's the same infatuation people had with Choi, Hill, Harris, etc. In some people's eyes, youth > proven veteran in every case. In the above mentioned players, i don't regret trading one of them.
  21. Ramirez was 3 years younger than Gerut when we got him, and his bad year had more to do with a badly sprained ankle that messed his swing up than a 3 year decline in power. Well I'm reserving judgment until he comes and starts hitting. I think it's not likely that they spin Gerut off in another trade. More likley to send one of the current guys (Grieve/Holla) away.
  22. I don't think it's fair to say that Gerut is only as good as Hollandsworth or Grieve until we see him play. I remember the "He had one great year a few years ago and has sucked since" argument when Hendry acquired Aramis Ramirez. How has that turned out?
