....but couldn't pull the trigger. Walt Jocketty was at the Inaugural game for the State College Spikes and I could've run out and Giluli'ed him or something. But the risk was too great....Jim Riggleman could've gone down as collateral damage. I just couldn't bear to see the light leave Riggs' eyes.

Minor League Fans.....allegiance?

Our new team (Short-A) is a Cardinals team, but they are the home town team so I cheer for them. Short-A is so many levels removed from the actual Cardinals that I don't feel like I'm in any way compromising my allegiance to the Cubs. As others have said, it's more about being a fan of the individual players and watching them progress towards the majors. If the Spikes reaffiliated with another team that wouldn't change anything. -
And former Cub Dave Clark (primarily a pinch hitter) is one of the World Team coaches. I like the Futures Game better than the AAA All-Star game because the Futures Game just includes prospects, while the AAA All-Star Game can include players who are having good seasons in the minors but are basically AAAA players with no real major league future. I think his realignment idea IS like the NBA. He said geographic divisions, which I would assume would fall under conferences. I think he's just trying to get rid of the idea of interleague play and have everyone play everyone every year

While I agree that Guillen is trash, I won't go so far as to say that he represents even a sliver of Sox fans. It's just as easy for us to say all Sox fans are classless goons and blue collar thugs as it is for them to say that we're all yuppy pretty boys who go to Wrigley for the beer and to talk on our cell phones. It's simply not true. In fact, you know where most Sox fans live? Not the South Side. Most live in the Western and Southwestern Suburbs.
