And now the nominees for the "Weirdest of Defense of Suck" Award: - Defending Glendon Rusch in "Rusch Split" - Defending strikeouts in "Strikeouts" - Defending Dusty Baker in "That one dude's signature that says 'Keep up the Good Work Dusty' or something like that"

    Colvin is the only "important" player we've got playing in the CWS; Smith was only a 35th round selection and he's a junior. I'll bet he's going back unless we overslot him but who knows? I wasn't referring to the Cubs. The Short-A season in my town is a Cardinals affiliate. #-o Who cares about the Cards? Der "closet Cards fan" wood does, that's who. Note the bolded part. True, I also see that they are "our" short season team. Yes, "we" as in the team in my town. I try to pretend they aren't affilated with the Cardinals the best I can. At any rate the affiliation agreement is up after this year and, with any hope, they'll reaffiliate. Back to my question though. Does the CWS run past the 20th? If so, do players who were drafted then just sign and join the teams whenever they're done?

    State College's season starts Tuesday and I believe they don't announce the rosters until Sunday

    That little 3 game winning streak would ahve been the ideal time to announce Baker's extension and it didn't happen. That gives me a glimmer of hope

    There's plenty of time (and other posters who agree with you) to trash ND without bringing it into a Transactions thread. I wasn't (overly) trashing Notre Dame. I was stating my opinion that his football stock will decline after this season when ND's offense comes back down to Earth... or when Paul Poszluzny breaks his face in Week 2

    Probably Prior on Sunday. i'm just going by what Len and Bob said last night, as they said the decision on Prior wouldn't be made until after his side session on Friday The paper said his side session is Thursday, and they would make the decision on Friday, but that barring any setbacks, that he would pitch on Sunday. We'll just have to both say we're right. :) Ideally his side session would be great, and they'd go Marmol/Marshall/Prior, but we all know that won't happen. Gotta get Rusch his numbers
