  1. considering they were thinking of Piniero as their closer, I think this is a good move. So the rotation is now Schilling/Beckett/Dice-K/Wakefield/???
  2. one 16oz beer at Wrigley = $6 six 12oz Yuengling bottles at the store=$6 what to choose, what to choose...... Actually, the smarter thing for Wrigley to have done was to keep the price the same but make the cups a little smaller. No one would have ever known
  3. well I would believe that better recruits will come to Minnesota now that Tubby is there. Any speculation on who will move to Kentucky? Who is the mid-major flavor of the week? SIU coach? Winthrop? VCU?
  4. There is also a big difference between "contenders" and "favorites". I think they are contenders, but clearly Detroit is (and should be) the favorites in th East.
  5. Floyd, a left-handed hitter, has a career .281 average against right-handers, and .272 average against lefties. Murton, a right-handed hitter, has a .329 average against lefties and .289 against right-handers. that's pretty much all i need to know. Cliff Floyd: 4775 career AB's Matt Murton: 595 career AB's This isn't an endorsement of Floyd, just wanted to point out the sample size
  6. I guess I don't know the whole emoticon language so well. You had stone lips guy and not the lip-wiggle guy, so you were 'smiling' opposed to 'LOL'ing so I thought it might have been an idea you were in favor of. But it was sarcastic, got it. What they need is a little sarcastic eye roll guy that doesn't look so patronizing. maybe give him a nice smile. Using the lip wiggle guy could have been protrayed as me laughing at posters here. And I'd never do that.
  7. I still don't know what it means "hello, I'm a born again Christian and I'd like to give you my testimony..." I can happily say that in my 32 years, no one has ever said that to me
  8. I'm going off the original intention of this team, which was to at least make the conference finals. That's the standard. Can't simply shift the standard and say they're doing alright midway through the season. Can you honestly say this team will make the conference finals? no, but could you honestly say that the "weak" East would win 2 of the last 3 championships? You never know in a 7 game series. The Bulls won, what, 5 or 6 in a row before this little 2 game skid? Why the panic? I realize they have squandered opportunities to pass Cleveland, but you can't expect the team to win every single game
  9. but, but we got PJ Brown for him!* *via chandler
  10. i do. the bulls aer still just behind CLE with many games to go. shoot, they'd be the #6 seed in the West
  11. OMG A LOSS!!!!FIRE SKILES!!!!STUPID PAXSON!!!!!TYRUS SUCKS!!!!!!!!OVERREACTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. I know CBS likes to get back to their regular scheduled programming in the second weekend, but with only 8 games per day on Thur/Fri, it seems a shame that they compress the airtime and still have multiple overlapping games. Throw us a bone and show ua as many games as possible please!
  13. hawkcub has Tejada listed twice
  14. Where did Thad Matta coach before he went to Ohio State? I can't quite remember... He was a long time assistant coach for Chuck Daily in the NBA. I don't know if he had a college coaching gig though. Xavier, which is what Andy was going for, since they talked that up during the Xavier-OSU game. To defend the media, that is a pretty big story especially with Matta leaving Xavier in the manner that he did. Obviously the media is going to focus on that sort of thing. The same goes for Ben Howland and Pittsburgh. Also, in Matta's case, he was facing players at Xavier that he recruited to the school. Of course it's going to be a big deal and the media is going to talk about it a lot. Eh, shut up, member of the media. they do this in every game. During the entire DePaul/KSU NIT game, they talked about Huggins at Cincy and Wainwright at Wilmington.
  15. as long as teams are on the clock for 2 minutes MAX, it'll be alright. The draft usually has a pick every 15 seconds or so, which obviously doesn't work for analysis purposes. My guess is that they will have a Mel Kiper-esque draft expert plus Reece Davis and Gammons on the panel
  16. I can't believe so many people believe that Howard will hit close to 60 HR a year ;)
  17. GROUP A: Albert Pujols GROUP B: Alfonso Soriano, Carlos Beltran GROUP C: Nick Swisher, Carlos Lee, Prince Fielder GROUP D: Miguel Tejada -> Brad Hawpe, JD Drew, Hideki Matsui, McCann -> Adrian Gonzalez, Magglio Ordonez WILDCARD: Conor Jackson -> Ryan Braun First Half Transactions:
  18. thrilled that the HR contest is back, and I like the "secret" wildcard rule. I chose prince fielder as my wildcard last year, but felt screwed when everyone saw thome out there and chose him too. Also, I hate you todd helton. Also also, when will the predictions contest be announced? I have a title to defend! EDIT: Also, also, also.........that wildcard in the HR contest is much easier for those who can see the PECOTA projections. I'm not subscribing to BP just for this contest :x
  19. Spammers are worse, IMO. At this point I wonder what motivates spammers. Is anyone really stupid to read emails that manage to get through filters? Is that percentage worth the consistent effort to try to outsmart those filters? You'd have to assume it is worth it, financially. Do they even get money if you read the spam? Only if you click their link, right? I get endless amounts of spam on my yahoo email account from drug companies and "great investment opportunities on the stock market". you can throw the spam filter on them everytime, but the origin uses randomly created email addresses and are different every time. Very annoying
  20. I fully expect the knicks to win the lottery so we won't have to worry about that ;) You do know the Knicks have a better shot to be in the playoffs than win the lottery, right? hush your mouth!
  21. Hackers: lowest form of life on earth?
  22. premium is still hacked, so I have to come slum with the commoners now ;)
  23. he's a pretty good college coach. he was never cut out to handle the pressure/ego's of the NBA (not to mention that Krause was giving him a roster with Bryce Drew and Khalid El-Amin)
  24. I fully expect the knicks to win the lottery so we won't have to worry about that ;)
  25. I still don't know what it means
