Did it? I didn't think so but I also did not get a good look at the replay. Is that something the refs can review during the timeout? Yeah, that replay confirmed that it hit the rim. It's a tough call to make, but the refs have made a few other bad calls in favor of KU (no shot clock violation on the Wright dunk, no goaltend). I highly doubt refs make calsl for or against teams in 99/100 situations (the 100th being every duke game)

in his tenure at UK (97-07), Kentucky has only won fewer games than Duke, Kansas and UConn How long has it been since a Final Four? He won with a Rick Pitino team, which should've been the 3-peat (I still despise Simon for that one as well as Anderson's knee). my point was that 99% of the other teams in the country would kill for the success of the guy you just ran out of town. I think UK fans are spoiled by their school's success.

I was waiting for an Illini fan to make this about them. Just didn't think it would be you you'll have to forgive me, but i get shell-shock every time a fairly big name coach comes into the Big Ten. it generally means bad things for illini recruiting--just the latest being sampson-gordon. as for illini fans making everything about the illini, that's totally untrue. there are wayyyy more people chomping at the bit to talk about missouri athletics, for instance. and it's a chicago board, there's bound to be more than a few illini fans lurking about--penn state fans might just have to deal with it. On a board for a professional team located in illinois. We could talk about penn state. Apparently they are going to try and field a team again next year. I think it is cute really. notice how I didn't bring up Penn State (who I only sorta root for cuz they're in town) in a thread about Tubby Smith and Minnesota. that's because penn state has a rather non-existant basketball program. stating that tubby's move would hurt penn state recruiting could be considered a wee-bit frivolous. I in no way endorse penn state's basketball program as anything more than occasionally competitive crap. Most year's they couldn't beat the women's team. So please stop trying to use PSU against me, as it won't work

i guess that would depend on who they replace him with, and whether they opted for UK for the coach or for the school. Either way, I'm all for more powerhouse schools in the Big 10. I know it hurts everyone else's chances, but a really strong UofI, IU, MSU, Michigan, OSU, Wisconsin, now Minny.....fun stuff.

I love the point that Jim Rome made on his TV show today. The Texans passed up Matt Leinart, Vince Young, and Jay Cutler to end up with Schaub. the only good point Rome has ever made. Probably means he read it in the paper that morning

there have been plenty of duke busts, but some pretty good successes too. Brand, Deng, to a point, Maggette. Hill has had injury problems, but was a star before that. Boozer has been solid. Jay Williams let an off court mistake ruin a promising young career. It's too early to judge shelden or JJ

i think it's way more about the coach than the program history. You don't think Bobby Knight instantly improved the recruiting at TT? Or that Roy Williams immediately resurrected the recruiting at UNC? Conversely, if Coach K left Duke and some schmoe replaced him, don't you think the recruiting would suffer?

congrats Texan fans. You now have a backup QB as your starter and still no Reggie Bush. How is that all working out for you?

well I would believe that better recruits will come to Minnesota now that Tubby is there. Any speculation on who will move to Kentucky? Who is the mid-major flavor of the week? SIU coach? Winthrop? VCU? It's still a lower profile job and it's Minnesota. Where do you think the average top recruit is going to like more, North Carolina or Minnesota. i think over the past 4 or 5 years, kids were picking North carolina over kentucky too, so what's the difference for Tubby?
