  1. Have to let the starter keep going if they keep winning. Why mess with winning ways? true. then i'd have no problem never starting this post season :)
  2. Like I said, people always look for reasons why a certain team may be an exception. I look at that lineup and pitching staff, and I don't see a 90 win team. I look at their overall numbers, I don't see a 90 win team. Then I see the run differential, and I sure as hell don't see a 90 win team. Pythag wins has proven to be a pretty good metric time and again. Does anyone really think the D'Backs would win 90 games if they played 162 games again? Or, better yet, does anyone think they'll win 90 games next year if they trot out that same team? Maybe if the young players continue to make strides..but certainly not at the level they performed at this year. another stat (god forbid I "defend" them): 1-run games: 32-19, but only a +13 run differential blowouts (5+ runs): 20-26, with a -62 run differential in other words, their bullpen really helped them in 1-run games, as they won way more than they should have given the differential. there's something to be said about a bullpen that good, however By definition, a team that is 13 games over .500 in one games is going to have a +13 run differential in those games. So I'm not sure exactly what your point is. ha ha ha, you're right. i'm dumb what we want, however, is a blow out. ARZ in blowouts: 20-26 CHC in blowouts: 27-17

  4. the run differential thing is a little overblown. the D-Backs lost 18 games by 5 or more runs (giving up 10+ runs in 12 of them) while winning by 5 or more 18 times, but scoring 10+ just 8 times.
  5. good point.....are we gonna go with "starter keeps going as long as he/she wins" or "rotate each game"?
  6. OMG SRSLY

  8. i have much more confidence winning in Game 2 (Lilly vs. Davis) than Game 1 (Z vs. Webb)
  9. the question is, who has final say here? Laura?
  10. cuz the people who vote look at records only Plus they have a QB who throws for 500 yards a game against HS teams. same reason why Boise St. played in the Fiesta last year. Boise was good though. clearly, yeah, but they didn't play anyone till the Oklahoma game
  11. i can call some people.... funny story - I watched the game at a friend's apartment near downtown b/c they have cable through D&E (which has the B10 network). A guy was there who said that his girlfriend TA'ed Morelli his sophomore year, and she said that it seemed like he struggled to put any sentence together that was more complicated than "Hi my name is Anthony Morelli." I've now heard from multiple people that he is a moron, and given his decision-making on the field, it's not hard to believe. i believe it. local radio has been raking Morelli and JoePa over the coals. Morelli, cuz he sucks, and JoePa because he has dumbed down the offense (for Morelli) that they are easy to defend
  12. Best by winning%: -Southpaw18 (.875) -Derwood (.800) -Cubbies75 (.800) -davhern (.777) -UMFan (.727) -soccer10k (.700) -bhogg (.667 in 3 games) -Flames24Rulz (.600) so alter your rotation accordingly I would go: Southpaw19 davhern Derwood Cubbies75 UMFan83 soccer10k
  13. Is it safe to use bhogg...we did lose today. I think we should, obviously, go with the guys who had the best records in the regular season. The list looks something like this: Playoff Options: -Bhogg (obvious) -UMFan (8-3) -Southpaw19 (7-1) -soccer10K (7-3) -Flames24Rulz (6-4) -Cubbies75 (4-1) People who should not be allowed within the first five posts of the thread: -CT Cubs Fan (0-5) -Vance the Cubs Fan (0-3) Dude, I'm so getting the shaft here. 7-2 suckas... i knew we missed someone. I've added you to the list
  14. bumping to vote for "best of" as we're discussing in the Game Thread Starters thread
  15. cuz the people who vote look at records only Plus they have a QB who throws for 500 yards a game against HS teams. same reason why Boise St. played in the Fiesta last year.
  16. TBS I believe has the rights to this game as well. oh, right, that whole Monday Night Football thing
  17. ESPN to pick this up?
  18. you're on the same schedule i was when i was rolling (going to Orlando that is). staying at the Marriott Grande Vista by any chance?
  19. the NL playoff picture is SO AWESOME
  20. this is a good thread until we determine a game tread starter
  21. What if the Rockies and Phillies both get in? Rollins, mostly because writers are lazy
  22. yeah, the 4-way tie is off, so the Cubs play Arizona. everyone with tix can breathe easy
  23. i can call some people....
  24. Bullcrap, you don't know that. You're making a totally uninformed guess. In fact, if anything, you should be giving lou CREDIT for soto. As soon as he was called up, he played him. Soto got hot, so he kept playing him. You can't ask much more than that. As for letting Soriano lead off, he tried batting him fifth a few games, he sucked. And the whole "leadoff" man thing gets blown out of proportion sometimes. Outside of the first inning, it really doesn't man much, except that the person in that spot is almost guaranteed at least one more at bat than those lower in the lineup. Isn't it a good idea to give him more AB's? Especially when he's hitting like this. ignore him, please. the number of his opinions that i don't agree with is off the charts
