  1. Vitters' O-swing% is very surprising to me. The numbers in the article are interesting. The analysis? Meh, he seems to be just eyeballing and saying "this feels about right." Agreed. Not sure that those numbers really support most of his conclusions. Vitters O-swing% was the most surprising thing to me, too. It doesn't really bother me that he isn't seeing many pitches, if he isn't swinging at bad ones. Seems like the thing that people kept saying about Vitters is that he needs to learn the difference between a good pitch to hit and a bad pitch to hit. 7.8 O-Swing% seems like great progress in that regard.
  2. I'm happy for LeBron and Mike Miller. But, I hate pretty much everybody else on their team. Wade, Howard, Battier, and Haslem are all insufferable.
  3. 21 year-olds in the DSL are WSR's new 29 year-olds in AAA
  4. Darwin Barney is actually 6th in the NL in bWAR for position players. Castro is 8th. Barney has 0.7 more dWAR than anybody else in the NL. NL dWAR leaderboard Darwin Barney 2.3 Starlin Castro 1.6 Michael Bourn 1.4
  5. Here is a partial video of Cuban on First Take http://www.businessinsider.com/mark-cuban-first-take-2012-6
  6. For comparison, here are their bWAR numbers Name bWAR Baker -0.4 Barney 3.2 Campana 0.8 Cardenas -0.2 Castillo 0.1 Castro 2.7 Clevenger -0.2 DeJesus 0.6 DeWitt -0.3 Hill -0.3 Johnson 0.4 LaHair 1.1 Mather -0.4 Soriano 0.6 Soto -0.2 Stewart -0.1 Valbuena 0.2 Dempster 2.3 Corpas 0.5 Russell 0.4 Camp 0.3 Samardzija 0.3 T. 7. It was frustrating that Brooks wouldn't adjust and put Durant back on LeBron. It was a neat idea to put Sefolosha/Harden on him during the first half of Game 4 to keep Durant out of foul trouble. But LeBron was just torching those two on the post. The Thunder kept having to double LeBron because he was so much bigger than his defender and LeBron kept hitting the wide open man and they kept hitting threes. Would have been nice to see Durant go back on LeBron in the second half of Game 4 to at least force LeBron to adjust and beat them in a different way.
  8. Drop Ryan Zimmerman Add Andre Either
  9. Has there ever been a team with no pitchers in its top 10 at the end of a year?
  10. Wow, exciting day on the farm. How is Candelario's defensive reputation? 2 more strikeouts from BJax today. Rough.
  11. Although I was rooting for the Thunder, it was very cool to see LeBron finally get his title. "I looked at myself in the mirror and said 'I need to be better.'" is refreshingly honest.
  12. FDB If you had the money to start you could easily make lots of money each season. Don't bet the line but rather just the who will win. If you bet 50 bucks each and every game against the Nets you will have won 59 times and only lost 7. Say you only get 50% return on wins that makes the profit equation (59x$25) - (7x$50). That would be $1,125 profit this season. Obviously the Nets are having one of the worst seasons ever but you could each year wait a month to see who are the worst 2-4 teams and then do this. You would make 3-4 grand a year doing this but you would need the starting capital. Oh and you could do this for each sport, although I wouldn't do it with football (too unpredictable and too few games).
  13. I just searched my posts to see what I said about LeBron on here in the past. Led me to this gem from 2010.
  14. Over 4 games, the Heat have outscored the Thunder by 5 points. I don't think 5 points over 4 games is enough to definitely say one way or the other. Before the series, I thought the Thunder were a better team than the Heat and I still think so. LeBron is obviously incredible, the best player on the planet, etc., but this series has not been completely one-sided.
  15. Also, everything in here http://www.basketballprospectus.com/unfiltered/?p=929
  16. Huh, this would be pretty sweet. Bring back the Cuba jerseys?
  17. Perkins should not be getting nearly so much playing time. The Thunder are much better playing small with either Ibaka or Collison at the 5, especially in this series. It would be nice if Brooks would change the rotation. He won't, but he should.
  18. I still think the Thunder are much better than the Heat
  19. who cares but if you do it is on MLB Network and CSN
  20. They've also been talking about wanting him to get a full seasons worth of at-bats at AAA. He's currently played 153 games at AAA, so he needs 9 more games to get to 162. June 22 is in 9 days.
  21. I whiffed on #1, got #2 half right, and nailed the rest
  22. Jackson has a higher bust probability than most good prospects do at AAA, but I still think of him as a part of the future core. In terms of hitters within the Cubs organization right now and their likelihood of being at least an average starter in 2014 or 2015, I think the order goes 1)Castro 2)Rizzo 3)Jackson There is a dropoff between #2 and #3, but I think the dropoff between Jackson and whoever #4 is (Barney?) is much larger. Anyways, that's my (WSR esque) reasoning for still considering Jackson part of the core.
