  1. A month ago? In a heartbeat. The way Soriano's playing now, I'd take Snider as the key piece, but try to get something tossed in. We could also expand the deal. They do need pitching. It's a shame that Volstad and Wells both insisted on being God awful instead of settling for bad. Maholm could appeal to them, but the way he's been pitching for us, that 6 mil team option will be a hell of a value, especially considering that we'll likely have to spring for two additional starting pitchers. There's not a single guy in our system, at least the upper levels, that I'm sold on as a big league stater. Struck's the closest, but I wouldn't expect to see him before next September at the earliest. It's amazing how quickly you went from talking about a Snider for Soriano swap to Nick Struck's ETA.
  2. Also, I think Scola is the only player that the Rockets can really amnesty. I think he is their only player that is guaranteed money in 2013-2014. Doesn't make sense for them to amnesty anybody else.
  3. I think a healthy '12 team could definitely be better. The actual team, no. Speaking of, Griffin hurt his knee at Team USA practice today. Severity unknown, but that could be awful timing for the Clippers.
  4. Ryan anderson to the hornets
  5. 78. Lee 81. Archer
  6. I wonder how TT is feeling right now
  7. Cool moment for Bernard James
  8. Pleasantly surprised with MKG
  9. Plus, Rich Cho seems to be in charge now and not MJ.
  10. I think they take Robinson if they stay at 2 and Barnes if they move back to 4. Agreed that Beal would be the best choice. Agreed that Barnes would do much better in Cleveland.
  11. The Bobcats have no use for Ben Gordon. It doesn't matter at all if Gordon takes them from 20 to 25 wins next year. Mostly I'm just pissed because I wanted Bradley Beal.
  12. Second best, no. Top 10, definitely. Top 5, maybe/probably. Please kick one of these guys out of the top five for Headley: Longoria Hanley Wright Bautista Cabrera (defense be damned!) Then there's others that have arguments for the current top 10 over Headley such as: Beltre Zimmerman ARod Edwin Encarnacion Youklis (if he gets healthy) Trumbo Sandoval Prado Then there's these guys who are a whole lot younger and I'd much rather have over the next five years (I know, different point): Moustakas Lawrie It's a bit of a stretch to call Bautista a 3B, no?
  13. The protected first rounder from the Pistons is protected almost exactly the same as the protected pick that the Bobcats gave to the Bulls. Unfortunately for Charlotte, Detroit seems like a much better bet to deliver that draft pick earlier than 2016. Regardless, they got a potential high first rounder and the better player. It's amazing how much you can get for taking on salary. Is the #10 pick in 2014 worth eating 15 million dollars in cap space? Is the #6 pick in 2015 worth that? I'm not so sure. 2013 Free agents are pretty good. Also, the Bobcats have no use for the better player.
  14. That's really all there needs to be, when you look at his ability. Legit 2G size, good shooter with mid-range and deep game. Elite jumping ability, can handle, has great quickness, good rebounder for his size. I think he has some James Harden potential in the NBA, but also has the ability to come off of screens like Rip Hamilton (to use the easy comparison from UConn, very skinny). He's probably not going to be a 25ppg scorer, but I think he's a guy that can give you 16-18 right away at the 2-guard with a good PG to get him the ball off screens and on the break. Ultimately, I think he can be a low 20s scorer, who gives you 5 rebs and 5 assists every night. A very good player. Granted, I haven't watched a ton of Lamb, so I can be persuaded. But, what's the huge difference between him and Corey Brewer?
  15. Thomas Robinson is high ceiling?? Oops, I had that post worded a different way when I wrote it the first time. Should really have read that one over.
  16. Gordon and a protected first rounder to the Bobcats for Maggette. Mixed feelings on this trade for the Bobcats. Really don't like taking on an extra year for Gordon. On the other hand, the Pistons are set up poorly enough for the future that the pick could be very valuable in a couple of years. I'm scared that this trade is signaling that the Bobcats aren't going to take Beal. Really hoping that the Bobcats aren't actually going to trade to #4 to take Barnes. The #24 pick is not nearly enough to account for the difference between MKG/Beal and Barnes.
  17. Very good article on Grantland about Royce White.
  18. I think one of the big guys is definitely going to end up being better than Lamb. There are some really good high-ceiling big guys between Perry Jones III, Thomas Robinson, and Andre Drummond. I've got to think at least one of them pans out. That doesn't even mention some of the safer big guys like Zeller or Sullinger. I just don't see it with Jeremy Lamb. What is it about him, other than his length?
  19. [expletive] it, I want to see a video-game rebuild. Speaking of, does anybody have a link to a free full version of a recent Baseball Mogul? (PM please!)
  20. Beal, yes. I'm not very high on Jeremy Lamb, though.
  21. Are you saying that you wouldnt give up even one of Jackson, Soler, Baez, Almora, Vitters, Lake, Szczur, Candelario, Amaya, or Maples? If thats what you're saying, you're crazy. You can't get Chase Headley without any of them.
  22. We were trying to get Headley this offseason and the price was too high. I can't imagine that his price is any more acceptable to the brain trust after his start this year. I would be very surprised if we traded for him.
  23. I hardly know anything about hockey, but I am a Hurricanes fan (only when they are good, of course). What do you guys think about the Staal trade?
