  1. I think there's enough separation between Boise and the teams on the edge of the bubble (UVA, UK, UT, etc) that I think they are pretty safe. I've even got them as my top 11-seed. Cal's resume seems more shaky. I still think they are safe, barring the bubble getting a lot stronger over the next couple of days.
  2. Man, almost every fringe bubble team has been going down in the past couple days.
  3. Memphis' and Denver's profiles have much more separation when you use RPI and not KP, though
  4. only one top 100 win for them (ole miss). hard to see them getting an at large bid. They have a better resume than Iona did last year, and I could see the committee rewarding a dominant regular season champ over a middling major especially with how weak the bubble has looked this year. I think they'll make it. No real logic behind that other than the committee does seem to like to reward such teams. Plus they've got a top 10 NCSOS and a top 30 RPI
  5. Down goes Middle Tennessee State in the Sun Belt semis
  6. *pop* Eh, they are still set up to play NC State or UNC in the second round of the ACC tournament. If they win that, they've got 5-6 wins against tournament teams, including one over a likely #1 seed. Not sure they are done, yet.
  7. UVA goes down to FSU
  8. I think Creighton should make it, but.... Creighton Good wins: vs. Wisconsin (5 seed on matrix), vs. California (10 seed), vs. Wichita St. (10 seed), Akron (13 seed) Bad losses: @ Drake (146 RPI, 127 KP), vs. Illinois State (121 RPI, 61 KP), @ Indiana State (77 RPI, 98 KP), @ UNI (75 RPI, 71 KP) Iowa St. Good wins: vs. Kansas St. (3 seed on matrix), vs. Okla St. (5 seed), vs. Oklahoma (10 seed) Bad losses: @Texas Tech (217 RPI, 254 KP), @Texas (119 RPI, 93 KP), Iowa? (78 RPI, 31 KP) Don't see enough of a difference between those two to account for the fact that Creighton largely being considered a lock and Iowa St. is still right on the bubble.
  9. Topic for discussion: very underwhelmed with both Creighton and Wichita St.'s resumes.
  10. in as unc
  11. soooooo plan: trade shark to seattle for hultzen/franklin or whatever trade DeJesus for a prospect trade new prospects, baez, vogelbach, and maples for stanton? sign bourn Castillo Rizzo Barney Castro Valbuena Soriano Bourn Stanton Jackson Garza Baker Feldman Villanueva yeah, thatd be pretty sweet
  12. Darius Reynaud had 2 punt returns for TDs, Zach Brown had a pick six, and I don't remember what the other TD was. The Jags were laughably bad in that game (and the Titans weren't very good either). That game was fun, but the outcome sucked since Tennessee is likely out of the top 10 now. Two pick 6's for Zach Brown
  13. i dunno, but i've always been a big fan of him. nc state had mediocre talent and he led them to some very solid years. just seems like a talented guy who makes smart decisions and can create a little with his legs. NC State? the school he played at for 3 years?
  14. 6) Jackson 7) Johnson 8) Vitters
  15. Need 2: PPR League Darren Sproles vs. NYG Mikel Leshoure vs. GB Jacquizz Rodgers vs. Car Montell Owens vs. NYJ Need 2: Non-PPR Dwayne Bowe Hakeem Nicks Greg Jennings
  16. I'm changing my vote to Fujikawa as a protest for changing the rules mid-process. Kyle knows that once you establish a position, you can never change it.
  17. I agree Tennessee probably won't pursue them, but they'd be far better options than reaches like Butch Jones or someone similar. I also need to get my obligatory Mike Leach mention in - he won't be considered due to the abuse allegations but he'd be a great hire. Hue Jackson has apparently expressed interest. That possibility has me intrigued since he won't have draft picks to trade for washed up players. Is Fedora out? People around here seem to think that he declined an interview. I'd be pretty surprised by that, so I was wondering what you heard about that. FWIW, he called a team and manager meeting at 4:00 today.
  18. 5) Vogelbach 6) Jackson 7) Johnson
  19. Candelario's a guy that should be added. I would definitely agree.
  20. One of those moves that I wait to see future moves. If Schierholtz is the 4th or 5th outfielder, I really really like the move. If he is our opening day and main RF, I will be disappointed. Add another SP, RP, and either OF or 3B, I will love this offseason. Keep us in the variance range and not hamstring us. If any of the individual players on short-term deals perform well, great! Trade them for a Vizcaino or Villanueva. If we get enough positive variance, contend for a playoff spot! No matter which way our variance goes, we continue to build our system without hamstringing us in the future. Keep trading veterans + good years from our prospects, maybe a top 5 system. Contend for a playoff spot + keep financial flexiblility + add the #2 pick, maybe we sneak into the playoffs and have a top 10-15 system? I like the way this is going. I just hope we continue to add more pieces.
  21. Garza/Samardzija/Dempster/Baker/Feldman with Wood and Vizcaino waiting as 6/7? That looks like a rotation that can put us in the variance range, while still having valuable trade chips if things go south. EDIT: I feel the same way if you replace Dempster with Jackson or McCarthy.
  22. I'm much more excited for the Charlotte Hornets to come back than about the Pelicans. I do really like those Pelicans uniforms, though.
