  1. I figured he would go off after the ASB and everyone would attribute it to LaRussa's genious motivational skills.
  2. Where you coming from? If you're coming up from Louisville for the game, I'd give yourself plenty of time b/c of normal Chicago traffic and I know Indy has some construction but that is on I-74 I believe. If you're staying at nearby hotel, 90 minutes should be fine. Bleachers will be sold out regardless, CF and RF might be more crowded early on compared to LF. Flying up Tuesday morning actually. Will be in quite early, 10 AM. Heading downtown from there to the hotel. Just wondered how early to get to the park since this is the first time I've really done the bleacher thing.
  3. I'll be in the bleachers Tuesday night as well, for the first time since i was a small child. What is the standard arrival time for a mid-week night game? I plan on being there early of course to get a good seat. Wondering if I would need to be there any earlier with Bonds being in town. But I find it hard to imagine it being packed at 5pm gate opening when many will probably still be at work?
  4. Ehhh... He might not be dumb enough to take on Izturis. But he did give Burnett a stupid contract that he now regrets.
  5. Damian Miller is hitting 5th today for the Brewers...
  6. The only issue that hasnt been brought into this but I can't let go is who knows if Durham even wanted to come here? He may love SF and wanted to stay there. Maybe Hendry was interested and Durham said "thanks but no thanks." If that is the case, obviously hypothetical, DeRosa might have been his best option.
  7. should have walked him.
  8. pitching to him...interesting.
  9. Here comes the double intentional walk probably.
  10. it might be now, but it certainly wasn't at the time. why in the world would someone think that durham was washed up in winter 06? And you said I was using 20/20 hindsight? For reasons mentioned above, versatilty, age, and salary, It was the better move.
  11. (a) everyone in baseball was on steroids, and corked bats don't help hitters. (b) Sosa was two years younger than DeRosa, and probably had more mileage on his body since he was an everyday player. a. wrong, and i know b. more mileage? come on.... the fact sosa stood in rf for a few more innings and took a thousand or two more swings than derosa over the course of ten years is meaningless I agree to a point with you on A, not everybody was on roids. But, not to come off the wrong way to you, I bet I have a better idea on Sosa then you do as far as the steroid question. I trust the guy, and he was in that clubhouse for almost the entire year.
  12. you do know that sosa's career line before 98 was .246 AVG/.325 OBP, and well you know how that improved. more spinach?
  13. Obviously not, or he would be performing this year. probabilistic outcomes. actual outcomes. 20/20 hindsight Yep. That simple. The more of your posts I read the more I understand why you have a Robert Hanssen quote in your signature.

  15. Clearly no homerism in play for Mark Grace... Yeah, obviously. Although a lot of people like to make him out to be a Cub-hater.
  16. Grace and Kennedy predicting the Cubs will pass the Brewers soon and take the division.
  17. Lincecum is inconsistent. Cain has been pretty bad. Morris is decent, but should be familiar. Zito has been the worst of them all. Cain has a 122+ ERA and a disappointing but not unacceptable 1.35 WHIP. He hasn't been bad anyway you slice it. Ye ol' 3-10 record is pretty much the way 90% of people would say he's been bad. That 4.24 BB/9 isn't all that good, though. This team just needs to be patient...which is why I'm concerned about that particular game. I wasn't basing it off the record, based it more on the BB%. But after looking at his other numbers I realize "pretty bad" was a mistake. I could care less what his record is.
  18. He's giving up quite a few walks. His other numbers were better than I thought they were. I take the "pretty bad" comment back.
