  1. Who cares. This thread will be 10 pages in no time. He won't be making any decisions. He can keep Ed Lynch company on scouting trips.
  2. Cantu can't play 2nd base any better than Ryan Braun.
  3. So much expectation, hope, and optimism for a guy none of us have ever seen play. His numbers in Japan are very good, I hope he could come close to that here. But he is coming off a elbow surgery, so there is that to worry about along with the overall general unknown. It is a very risky move paying the money to bring him in. It could really pay off, hopefully it does, and the Cubs won't have to face ther eality of paying 10-12 million per year for a better version of So Taguchi.
  4. The Red Sox are the new Yankees.
  5. We'll see. I'm still not convinced Fukudome is all that great. If the Cubs get him I sure hope he is though.
  6. This show has actually been decent. No real earth shattering news, but they have actually talked about other teams than just Boston and New York, and other players than Santana.
  7. I'm gonna actually watch (and I barely watch ESPN much anymore). It probably won't be great, but I'll post any important updates here. Yeah, but at least its an hour devoted to baseball only. Even is 95% is Santana/Red Sox/Yankees talk.
  8. ESPN2 will have a one hour program from the Winter Meetings at 5pm EST.
  9. Winter Meeting update on ESPNews... Gammons thinks neither BOS or NYY won't back down on their offers for Santana. They will get Santana on their terms. Just waiting on the Twins to decide. Ravech asks why not a team like the Cubs. Gammons said it all has to do with the extension Santana is going to want. Teams have to give up prospects and money, if it was just one of those maybe they would be involved. Gammons thinks Bedard will be traded because he has told them he won't resign with them, but it may not happen this winter. Gammons said Brian Roberts wants to leave Baltimore as well.
  10. BP is reporting that AZ is open to getting rid of Tracy because of Mark Reynolds. Tracy played 47 games in RF in 2005. He is a pretty big injury risk and OF is not his primary position, but I would at least investigate it. I know its a longshot, and out of the box, but Tracy's bat would be nice.
  11. The debate is mental masturbation. Will that make me go blind as well?
  12. Yeah, UK is the final pre-Big 10 challenge. UK is down, but never count any team out in a rivalry game. It will be nice to see it played in Bloomington for the first time in many years.
  13. IU 64 SIU 51 Nice win by the Hoosiers. Complete turnaround from last Saturday against Xavier. Tough place to get a win.
  14. Whoops...fixed it.
  15. Go Salukis! Not just saying that as a U of I fan, but since I went to SIU for 2 years, I try to root for them as well. What do you expect in this game? Honestly I really dont know after seeing USC dominate SIU like they did. If Im the Salukis, I try and do the same thing to Gordon that Xavier did, but thats easier said than done. SIU needs a big game from Faulker, and SIU arena is sure to be crazy. Probably one of the best matchups Carbondale has seen in probably forever. I give IU credit for going there. Might result in a loss, but should be a good learning experience in that environment.
  16. Go Salukis! Not just saying that as a U of I fan, but since I went to SIU for 2 years, I try to root for them as well. What do you expect in this game?
  17. Corey Hart was my guess for hits as well Raw...
  18. I'm looking forward to watching IU @ SIU tonight. I don't expect IU to win though.
  19. Who had the most hits against the Cubs in 2007 from the NL Central? Most HR? Most walks? Most K's (as a hitter) Yes..I'm bored.
  20. BacktoBanks, you should change your name to "3-way deal."
  21. I think Roberts would be a very good pickup. Good OBP, 40+ doubles, 86% SB rate the past two years.
  22. BALONEY! He has a .395 OBP in what Bill James defines as clutch situations. That's noticably better than his career .381 OBP. You're telling me that's not coming through when it counts? Big freaking deal, he has a .218 AVG in those situations. The purpose of a clutch situation is not to make an out, something that he seemed to be quite adept at, especially compared to his career numbers. FOOEY! In those situations I want Adam Dunn to drive someone in, not walk. I'm not saying the walk is bad, but a hit in those situations means a whole lot more for his team. From reading what James wrote, I think that may be the point he is trying to make as well. Why else would he have included him in the list? (i'll edit the title)
