  1. Hehe... Just admit that comment about not being a top 4 team in the A-10 was just a tad bit of hyperbole.
  2. Nice to see Armon Bassett play well. 5-6 from three point range and finished with 17. I really like Ellis' game. 16-1 (5-0 Big 10). UConn should be an interesting matchup next week. After losing to Providence, they pounded Marquette today.
  3. I'm not what I would consider a huge Theriot guy by any means, but I don't exactly have an abundance of confidence that Cedeno would do much better. Defensively, Cedeno has the edge in range and arm at SS, but is also more inconsistent. His numbers in winter ball, even considering the less than major league quality playing surfaces, are terrible. Cedeno and Theriot have had nearly the same amount of ML AB's, 684 for Theriot, and 688 for Cedeno. Theriot's career line is .276/.341/.379. Cedeno is .247/.277/.349. Theriot has over 2x as many walks, Cedeno has over 2x strikeouts. Ronny had a good year in AAA, maybe he can figure it out. He is younger, so that is in his favor. But Theriot has superior numbers in almost the identical number of AB's. It is like choosing between a taking a shot in the head or the groin, both are going to hurt.
  4. The shots of the girls in the Carolina crowd crying were priceless.
  5. IU won, all that really matters tonight. The Barn has been a house of horrors for IU, so I will take any win up there.
  6. I bought some as well, but not sure how many I will actually be able to attend. I though the prices were fine, it averaged out to around $28 a ticket. I can deal with that.
  7. Not sure about the lack of a zone. Was wondering about that myself. Yep, we do get the Big10 Network, had to make some room in my trailer for the dish though.
  8. Right, plus Sampson has a track record of having his teams play better in the postseason than they did in the regular season. Oh wait.... Is that the best you have? I didn't predict anything. Just mentioned that its foolish to saw how IU will do 2 months from now based on one game in the mid January. Im not basing it off this one game. Im basing it off the 3-4 games Ive seen of them, and the games Ive seen Memphis, KU, UNC, Georgetown, etcc. I dont think they have the talent to match up with these teams. And we've already seen Lickliter completely man handle Sampson in the coaching department, just imagine what the coaches of the teams I listed will do with him. Lickliter is a good coach. But if Sampson was manhandled by him what did Lickliter do to Izzo? I know IU fans are in the minority around here, thats fine. I'm not expecting you guys to predict greatness for IU, hell, I'm not even doing that. I do think they are better than you are giving them credit for. I'm just glad they don't play Duquense, right Illiniguy? :)

  10. IU certainly didn't play like a top 10 team today. I wouldn't write them off that easily though. Bassett saved their butt today, he wasn't even supposed to play. He has been battling bone chips in his ankle and needs surgery. Ratliff has been out for most of the year due to his own stupidity (literally). I think if they can get everybody on the same page in the backcourt they can still be tough. It is a guards game these days, and DJ White can hold his own down low. Do I think they are on the level of UNC, KU, Memphis? No way. But just because they played below potential today doesn't mean they will in March. It is still January. We shall see.
  11. I think he went too far to shake Kelvin's hand. Again, ignore Sampson if you want. Is it asking too much to give a half-hearted walk through the rest of the line? If he is the bastion of ethics, then be the bigger man and act like it. I think, think he always only shakes the coaches hand though. I could be wrong. Allright, I'll take your word for it.

  13. you gotta admit that brock got hacked there at the end...what a joke. I've been watching Big Ten basketball for 20 years. I know our refs suck...it's just a fact of life. they suck even more in bloomington. I dont know which was better the non intentional foul while getting bitch slapped in the open court, or the phantom call on Meachem when IU missed the layup on the break. That call on Meachem was a phantom call, but that one worked to the benefit of Illinois. Gordon tipped the ball in but that was waved off. Gordon then made 1 of 2 at the line. Meh, if I remember right the other Illini defender down there stopped when he heard the whistle, so without the whistle who knows what happens. My point still remains about the absolute joke of officiating in the Big Ten. I am 100% with you my man. Just quit acting like this only happens in Bloomington. It happens in East Lansing, Columbus, Madison, etc.
  14. I don't mind Weber not getting along with Sampson, no big deal, they shook hands at the end of the game. But... To not follow through the line and at least give the IU players a quick handshake was dumb. I'd even understand if he kicked Gordon in the balls, but no reason to just turn your back on the other team. I suspect I'll get a lecture on this, but oh well. That game went just about how I thought it would really.

  16. DeAndre Thomas, an Chicago boy, surprised you don't know who he is. He's actually lost 60 pounds...yikes.
  17. But these guys are legit! They have stone cold sources!
  18. Huh? Please explain to me why MLB would cover up a trade? Where's Jim Garrison? This is Goose Gossage Day. It's disrespectful to bury Gossage and his election into the Baseball Hall of Fame announcement in the back pages of every major newspaper's sports section by making trades and conducting business as usual. I happen to think there is a trade already in place as well. I think any hold up might be because of the HOF announcement, 40 man roster issues and/or other trades that are being held up because they are semi-related. Maybe its just me, but I don't think a Brian Roberts trade would generate a huge amount of press outside Baltimore and Chicago. Also, I think the Gossage story is already headed to the back pages anyway. I understand wanting the HOF elections to be the news, similar to the lockdown on news during the World Series. I don't think anything is done. Some of these guy may have some "sources", but I'm not betting anything on it either.

  20. It was at least encouraging to see Bassett dressed and participating in warmups. They mentioned he would have surgery during the offseason. Hopefully he cane make it through the rest of this season and still contribute.
  21. I was on the Keppinger bandwagon last winter, but I really don't think he'd be an adequate SS on a full time basis. He's a hitter without a real position. He's not as good as he hit last year, but I think he's still good enough to be an excellent utility guy.
  22. Felipe Lopez...ehhhh. If you check the numbers of his only good year, 2005 in Cincy, you will see that was heavily GABP induced. At home he put up a .305/.368/.536 On the road it was .277/.335/.435 Since leaving that hitter's paradise he really hasn't done a whole lot. He is a much more expensive version of what the Cubs basically have in Ryonnie Therideno.
  23. These "insiders" are hilarious. If you truly have inside info you really look like an attention whore plastering it all over the internet. I'm not buying this story. Not saying there isn't truth to the talks, just doubting some of the "insiders".
  24. And furthers my belief, all things being equal, barring an offensive explosion in ST, Theriot is the starting SS.
