  1. I'm glad to see that teams aren't going to overpay for players.
  2. Doesn't the fact that he knows what a baseball is make him better than half the Pirates?
  3. It seems like even when they win, it's a win thy they barely scratch out even while being outshot and outplayed. I can't remember the last time I watched a game where they handily outplayed the other team, and I watch most of the games. Probably the Buffalo game.
  4. If we pull off this win tonight we are 7 points behind Detroit and they play at Washington on Saturday. I'm holding out hope. It's going to be tough to gain ground on this stupid road trip though. And the Kings just scored. Crap.
  5. I'm going to the Iowa/MSU game tonight. I went the the last three and Iowa won, including last years 43-36 thriller. I'm praying for the upset tonight but it will be tough as hell. :beg:
  6. I really hope they don't find a way to lose a game they should win.
  7. Not being able to get a final shot off tonight was painful. But yes, they have competed pretty well in most of the games and that is more than I really expected. I don't think Indiana is going winless. They'll get someone at home. It will be Iowa, Northwestern or Wisconsin.
  8. this is a bad, bad loss. every time i wanna start being interested in this stupid program, they pull this crap. I remember when Iowa and Missouri played each other 5 or 6 years in a row. Those games were supposed to be a big deal at the time as both programs were considered "up and coming". Yay Steve Alford and Quin Snyder. Sorry for that random comment. The 2001-02 Iowa basketball season still gives me nightmares on occasion.
  9. Nothing like being a player or two away from the World Series and then regressing with nearly every transaction (Bradley excluded). And people wonder why it's been over a century since the Cubs last won the World Series. I can't figure it out! While we've regressed we're still one of the better teams in the NL.
  10. Khabi is playing pretty well tonight. That save to set up the 3-on-1 goal was lovely.
  11. I'm wondering if ultimately the team would be all that different anyways. I highly doubt that last years team would win 97 games again and this group of players is still probably the best in the Central. It's frustrating though that we keep trading players who are better than what they are being traded for. I think it boils down to the bitter taste of the playoffs last year and when Hendry makes weird trades it just adds fuel to the fire.
  12. wait, are we being contracted next year? I'm not saying this is correct but wouldn't we want to compare Heilman to Marquis or Marshall (if he gets traded)? If that is so than I would rather have Marquis and Marshall.
  13. 1.2m salary last year and lousy stats. 1.5ish WHIP and an ERA over 5.00 Hmmm..has the potential to be that guy in the bullpen who makes me use obscenities and utter the names of religious figures in a blasphemous way a lot.
  14. I could be wrong, but I feel like the year they changed the rules the scores went wayyyyy up and then they've gone down a little bit since that year. I think that was 3 years ago? Yeah, that's the way it felt to me too. I couldn't watch hockey the year it came back. It felt too artificial. Like basketball on skates.
  15. Since the rule changes after the lock-out, scores like this are more likely to happen because the game is more open now (At least that's what logic tells me, I don't have difinitive stats or anything. I did hear that scoring is up this year over the past although I don't know if that's true.)
  16. I don't know if this a dumb question, but in games like that how bad is the goalie? I can understand even 5 goals, but 10? Without watching the game or being an expert on hockey but knowing more than the average guy. Chances are there were going to be multiple goalies although each one is still allowing a crapload of goals. The biggest problem would probably be defensive positioning, it doesn't matter if you're a good goalie when the defense is out of position and the offense has multiple easy chances to score.
  17. If someone had told me three years ago, when ISU had hired McDermott, they would be this bad at this time. I wouldn't have believed it.
  18. On the one hand I'd like to see Greinke as a Cub one day. But on the other hand I like the Royals and would enjoy it if they had an actual baseball team. In order to do that they need good players and Greinke is a pretty good player.
  19. It seemed that way for football too. A lot of mediocre top 25 teams.
  20. Yeah, he does that. He hit Matt Gatens with an elbow and Gatens got called for the foul when he grabbed him to keep himself from falling.
  21. That loss by Iowa today hurt me. I'm talking Cubs/ Dodgers pain (it ultimately won't mean much at all considering Iowa was going no where this year but that's how attached I am to this stupid team). What a choke job. We'll never get a coach that prevents the team from blowing double digit leads in the last 5 minutes. Never.
  22. Glenallen Hill was awesome. That is all.
