  1. Wait, why are people mad at someone talking [expletive] about the Cardinals?
  2. Heard that Iowa St is also now not waiving the legal rights either. Makes sense, they are the two with the most to lose. This article states that this is true. http://www.desmoinesregister.com/article/20110907/SPORTS020602/110907016/Iowa-State-retains-legal-rights-to-block-Texas-A-M-departure
  3. I used to be a Dmitra fan myself. This is terribly sad.
  4. Michigan will probably be ranked if they win but I don't think ND will be.
  5. Don't lose to Iowa State please Hawkeyes.
  6. I like the idea too. I would think, since polls decide the national champion, that it should be done this way.
  7. Yep, he played well yesterday too for the small amount he played against a bad team. On the flip side, it does seem like they find a way to plug in another guy who then becomes pretty productive. I hope Vandenberg is ready though because with so many young running backs who will now have to play he will have to have a good year.
  8. I meant to quote this one but I'm kind of wasted. http://www.bodine.phila.k12.pa.us/kaufman/japanclass/anime/ultrazilla/ultraman1.jpg
  9. My wife goes to ND grad school so I am making an honest effort to root for them but I am kind of enjoying their 16-0 deficit.
  10. Yes. Plus they're down to their 3-string QB. Did that happen today or were there injuries coming in?
  11. Is Purdue really that awful?
  12. Steelers were 6-2 in games decided by a touchdown or less last year. I wonder if that will be mentioned? I always thought that winning close games, especially when you do it year after year, was more indicative of one side of the ball being pretty good and carrying a weak other side of the ball. In the Bears case, a very good defense keeps what is usually a average at best offense in the game week after week after week. However I do think luck is applied quite a bit when you play so many close games because you are usually talking about 1 play that can change the game. The Bears have shown to have some talent considering they usually are in games with the best teams year after year after year at this point. Because of the way they play though I also do see where they have to rely on some element of luck. Then again, pretty much every good NFL team, except maybe the 2007 Patriots sans Super Bowl, has some luck on their side. I guess what I am saying is, as a Packers fan, I counted the Bears out last year but I'm not going to do that until they prove they deserve to be.
  13. Waiting for tomorrow morning is going to be like waiting for Christmas morning as a kid.
  14. I wonder how many FCS teams would beat UNLV. They look terrible. on the other hand, wisconsin (for one year) is not boring old run the ball 50 times a game and win despite a mediocre qb. Going to the Rose Bowl is not boring. For a team like Wisconsin, that's what matters. Not making Sportscenter with highlight pass plays. it's what they've done for several years. ohio st played the same way under tressel. i wasn't saying it's wrong to win that way, it's just not interesting to watch. I love that style of football myself. I personally can't stand spread offenses like Oregon and Michigan from a year ago or team like Texas Tech. Then again the team I cheer for is a run/defense first team so that may have something to do with it.

  16. I'm all for this, still. Do it Boren. I hope something like this happens solely because it means that Iowa State would be closer to going to a non-BCS conference which would be hilarious. How do Iowa & Iowa St keep a decent rivalry considering one of them never wins? Though I guess this was true with ND and a bunch of schools up until a few years ago. Yeah, It's kind of strange considering Iowa State is probably one of the worse programs in college football and Iowa is in the upper echelon (and by that I mean top 25 program or so). The schools themselves had some issues with each other for a long time and I know there were problems when the two schools played each other with riots or something, I think, I don't really know for sure but they didn't play again until the 70's so there was already some bad blood there to start things off. Iowa State was actually better at the time. Then Iowa rolled up something like 16 straight wins under Hayden Fry and I don't think Iowa fans considered it much of a rivalry then as the series was never too competitive. Then Dan McCarney coached them and all of a sudden Iowa State had a couple of ok teams and they played some good games with Iowa the last decade or so (aside from the last two years.). I think the rivalry picked up a little in Ferentz's first couple of years as Iowa State was decent and Iowa was terrible so it seemed like Iowa State could gain some ground in the state goes, they blew this of course as they are back to their normal terrible self. Most of this is all second hand information from stories from Iowa fans (who are biased of course.) I also think there is some little brother syndrome thing going on with their fan base and that drives Iowa fans nuts (kind of like the Brewers to the Cubs only the Brewers have been pretty good lately) although to say that there aren't plenty of Iowa fans who hate Iowa State just because they are Iowa State would be a lie.

  18. I'm going to say that this helps solidify Aramis as my favorite Cub ever.
  19. I understand where he is coming from but damn that's frustrating to read.
  20. I feel the same, mainly because I don't see how a team like Iowa would ever win a super conference.
  21. Yeah, I still don't give a [expletive] about the crazy stuff Z does. I still find it funny and don't really think it matters that much.
  22. My favorite stat from that streak is that from May 25 to June 25, he hit 23 HRs in 26 games (and slugged .972). I miss the steroid era.
  23. I'm glad we resigned Jones. It'd be really nice if he could solve his drop issues.
  24. Ochocinco to the Pats apparently.
  25. Wow...for a guy that's done nothing. Career Numbers = 3-4 as a starter, 11 TDs, 14 INTs, 73.2 passer rating. He has 3 good starts out of those 7. 3 horrible ones. And 1 right at his mediocre averages. Even if it was 7 great starts that is still a crazy contract in my opinion.
