  1. I concur. I don't get to watch PTI all the time, but I do watch it occasionally, and I enjioy it everytime I do get to watch it. Kornheiser is my idol, and Wilbon's good too. They are pretty amusing and that makes for some good entertainment. Around the Horn is terrible though. It was like they tried to copy the success of PTI. It's awful, and I cringe when I hear Marriotti talk. It was only slighty more watchable when Max Kellerman was the host and he and Woody Paige were goin at each other. But that was only very mildly amusing.
  2. Nothing against Gammons, but this sounds typical. We have one good week and baseball experts jump on the bandwagon and say how well the Cubs are looking. Then, if the Cubs falter, they will all probably get off and say "This team is a disappointment." If the Cubs fall apart, I can see that happening. I thought we had a fine week (I love nothing more than beating the Ccards, but sweeping them was awesome). However, we are the Cubs unfortunately, and it was only one week. I'm not jumping on any bandwagon yet. Though, I do hope we continue to play this well. I could get used to winning :D .
  3. How long until we ban that website from being mentioned on this board? With the winter meetings going on and all, I give it two days tops.
  4. I could just be confusing him with someone else, but didn't Blalock come up in the minor leagues also playing SS and 2B?
  5. Lugo and Bradley could trade wife beating secrets! Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Ha, that's so horrible, yet funny in a twisted way.
  6. Ok, here it goes: 1. Pie +10 +10 2. Patterson +10 +8 3. Hill +10 +7 4. Cedeno +10 +8 5. Harvey +10 +6 6. Gallagher 7. Brownlie 8. Pawelek +10 +3 9. Grant Johnson 10. Dopirak +10 +8 120
  7. Cody Ransom is: http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/354/78032544gv.jpg Wasn't he with the Giants, or am I thinking of someone else? Yes, he was with the Giants. If I recall correctly, we traded him to the Rangers for a PTBNL earlier in the year. Maybe he turned out to be the PTBNL.
  8. just wonderin, who here did i just complete the alfredsson-thornton trade with?
  9. I agree. I hate misleading headlines. I fell for it too when i clicked on Abreu a Cub.
  10. Any chance that the PTBNL is Kevin Mench  ? WE'll most likely get some middle of the road prospect, if that. I wish the Iceman luck down in Texas.
  11. I think what will tell us all is what he can do at AAA. If he puts up impressive numbers, he would get the chance to prove how good he is at the major league level. I think we should see what he does over the next season or 2 before we start sayin how overrated he is. LIKE BbB said, he's only 20. He's got a lot of time left.
  12. wut happens if we're not available for the live draft? would it just draft for us anyway?
  13. you could probably check out the WGN site and see if its there. also JonMDavis has a sound page so you can check and see if its there too.
  14. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/3899654 Pie at 4, Harvey at 8, and Gallagher at 9. Also says our system ranks 3rd in the division.

  16. I'm in as Prior Power makes his picks. Titans and Vikings all the way!
  17. OIh, of course they will. Jaret Wright anyone? The Yankees, or Steinbrenner I should say, have a problem spending big money on guys who were good the year before and horrible previous to that. Wright, Womack, Pavano, etc.
  18. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=whitesoxbullinger&prov=st&type=lgns He was signed to a minor league contract by the White Sox. Good to see him trying to comeback. He used to be a descent pitcher for a few years for us.
  19. count me in
  20. You guys can't top these 2 which I made before this season started: 1. I traded Tony Womack for Trevor Hoffman. Hoffman has been an asset while Womack has been one of the worst players in baseball this year. 2. I traded Aubrey Huff and Tim Hudson for Carlos Delgado, Matt Clement, and Brian Roberts. Huff has struggled and Hudson's been hurt. Delgado has hit descently this year. Clement was an all star and has been good up until his previous few starts. Roberts...need i say more?
  21. uhh ohhh Will Carroll was speculating a Bigbie for Matt Lawton swap earlier in the day. Oh please, please, please, let that be true. You said it. JH getting Bigbie to be our LF is completely pointless. His numbers this years are below par and his career numbers in avg/ obp/ slg are almost parallel to Holla's.
  22. I heard his swing has the 12-month flu.
  23. I've liked DeJesus since the Royals called him up last year and started hitting, but we won't be able to acquire him. He's one of the Royals best young talents and they coonsidered him to be the heir apparant to Beltran. No way the trade him unless the get an equally talented youngster in return. They'd probably want Pie, Murton, or Harvey for DeJesus.
