  1. What's MJ Melendez's deal? I've read he was a solid catcher but obviously wasn't going to play there with Salvy Perez in the way. He hasn't hit this year but his bat would play better at catcher for sure.
  2. I'm not worried about next year's pen at the moment. Anything can happen in the offseason and we have several interesting upper minors prospects. Get what you can for the Leiters and Smylys and take a deal if someone wows you for someone else.
  3. Pipeline has both prospect in the yankees top 30. They gave Neely's slider a 70 grade and his numbers look good this year. Cowles is raking this year and looks like he could be an interesting super sub. It's not the sexiest return but looks like we got good value in guys that could see the majors soon.
  4. That was my assumption. I've kinda been expecting him to be traded but there's no reason to if you don't get an enticing enough offer.
  5. Did we make a mistake pitching Taillon tonight? Or does one start not make a difference/he's likely to stay now?
  6. Getz played for the Royals. It was an inside job.
  7. How high is Vargas' stock still bc this looks like an underpay for both LA and the Cardinals.
  8. I love Morel and this hurts. Am going to miss his energy and personality. But this is a trade you make 10 times out of 10. Johnson is whatever and Bigge is replaceable. And Paredes is controlled for several seasons. I hated trading Paredes in the first place. That was a bad trade then.
  9. Sandberg signs pretty regularly now with a small fee, as does Dawson. Both have signed for me as well as Dunston and Jody Davis from those teams. I have like three binders full of cards I've gotten back, ha. Lot of Cubs duds and randos over the years too like Augie Ojeda, Jason Dubois, Bobby Brownlie, Rockey Cherry, Brian LaHair, Brooks Kieschnick, etc. I have a rookie card of Steve Trachsel and Turk Wendell I got both to sign ha.
  10. Ok now do Kyle Teel to the Cubs as fallout.
  11. MLB trades that should happen in 2024 WWW.MLB.COM At this time of year, we all become baseball general managers in our minds. We undertake the fun exercise of crafting theoretical trades that could shake things up ahead of the stretch run as... Happ isn't going anywhere because of his NTC, and I personally am fine with that. But this wouldn't be an awful return, hypothetically.
  12. The other prospect is Abrahan Ramirez, who is unranked in the Yankees system but is crushing rookie ball pitching.
  13. I'm a big card collector and also send cards through the mail to various current and former players. I admittedly am biased toward the players who sign for me or whom I pull autographs from packs. Which is part of the reason I adore Adbert and Keegan. And Chris Paciolla as my minor league sleeper who actually has been asleep at the plate for several months.
  14. Augustin Ramirez and Jared Serna are the return for Jazz so far. Apparently one more player involved. Both are interesting prospects and the Marlins have nothing at catcher but feels like a light return, depending on the third prospect involved. Neither were in the Yankees top 10 on MLB or FG.
  15. The cost was minimal and there's clear upside. Pearson was a top 20 prospect in all of baseball not that long ago. It's a worthy gamble with an eye on next year.
  16. There are other guys I'd rather give chances to than Tinoco, but I like gist of all that. I love Adbert and hope he comes back firing on all cylinders. Something was just off with him early.
  17. From B-R: Service Time (01/2024): 0.085 • Arb Eligible: 2027 • Free Agent: 2030
  18. It took Pinango three years of repeating A+ to post good numbers and hasn't looked good since going to AA. Maybe there's something but I didn't ever think of him as more than organizational depth. Rivera going is a little surprising but he just hasn't hit at all. The potential for Pearson is quite intriguing and I know there was talk on this board for years about messing up taking Little over him (and Little is now in the Jays pen funny enough). I do wonder if they try starting him again or just see what else they can unlock out of the pen.
  19. There is no good rationale behind trading Suzuki. He's having a good season and he can help next year. Unless Jed is blown away with an offer, I can't image he's going anywhere. And yeah, I have little to no hope we'd even be a finalist for Soto.
  20. Horvath and Baumeister both roughly top 20 prospects in the O's system. Etzel unranked. Seems underwhelming, though Baumeister is having a nice season. This a rough outline for a Taillon trade?
  21. We seemed to learn our lesson. I looked and the only trades we've made with the Rays since the Garza deal are: minor league pitcher for Mastrobuoni, Harold Ramirez for Esteban Quiroz, 40-man roster rearranging trade of Manny Rodriguez and Adrian Sampson for essentially cash.
  22. Fascinating baseball trade. Dominguez is frustratingly inconsistent but at his best is a solid hard-throwing reliever. In Baltimore he's probably 4th on the pecking order so he won't be expected to pitch in a lot of high leverage situations. The Phillies have been desperately trying to figure out center field. Now they buy low on a decent outfielder and can move him and Brandon Marsh between left and center with Jojan Rojas backing up both spots. Also doesn't necessarily preclude them from another move.
  23. Puk to the DBacks for prospects Deyvison De Los Santos and Andrew Pintar. Puk is on a run of 16 scoreless innings. De Los Santos is absolutely crushing the ball this year and Pintar is having a nice season too.
  24. Interesting pick up. He's been in the majors before, is hitting fine in AAA and was a top 10 prospect in the Twins system a couple years ago. Does make you wonder if there's a trade coming soon or if Canario is hurt and they didn't want to roster any of the other Iowa guys.
  25. Yeah I haven't read Law's stuff much but IIRC he's painfully stubborn. And a bit of a contrarian.
