  1. I was thinking that. And there's also the possibility you go to an organization you think can help get you where you want to be with mechanics and performance and parlay that into a deal elsewhere during the season or next offseason. We've seen the Cubs sign guys like this to a MiLB deal and then they ask for their release to go to another team or overseas.
  2. Anyone know when Pipeline is doing their new Top 30s?
  3. Yeah Shaw is untouchable for me, especially after trading Cam Smith.
  4. Yeah and we apparently wanted him previously so the interest is there. And he is due just $4.5 mil this season so PTR would be happy. But I'd rather have Robertson still.
  5. Ok so can we just do Cease and Suarez for Caissie, Assad, Merryweather or Keegan Thompson and, say, Pedro Ramirez? Seems like that should be enough. Maybe another lottery ticket.
  6. The idea of the Cubs re-acquiring Cease in a deal that has the Padres re-acquiring Caissie is amusing to me.
  7. Charlie Sheen (Carlos Estevez) to the Royals for 2 years and $22 million. Considering he's coming off a good season as a closer and will presumably handle the 9th inning, wonder if we can then get Robertson for under 10.
  8. Yeah I would much rather have Nico and put Shaw at third. It is a fascinating idea though of sending Nico+ for a solid starting pitcher and then signing Bregman and having Shaw man 2B. But many more wins is Bregman worth over Hoerner?
  9. Rays sign Ha-Seong Kim, 2 years and $29 mil.
  10. No Derniche or Fernando Cruz or Nazier Mule on that list is bonkers to me. I have them each in my top 30. I know it's subjective and they're all fairly raw but cmon.
  11. One thing that could help push a trade with the Cubs is the Padres have absolutely nothing in terms of OF depth. Both in AAA and the prospect pool. I was looking at last year's lists and their depth chart and it's basically just Tirso Ornelas. And their AAA OF includes Cole Roederer and Yonathan Perlaza. Heck even Canario might be enticing (not in place of a big prospect, just a sweetener and help out our 40 man crunch).
  12. Berti is official, and Luis Vazquez draws the short straw and gets DFA'd.
  13. Quite a list. Hard to argue with the top 10, though I think Long needs to hit the ground running for me to think of him as a Top 10 guy. I'd have Valdez in the top 20 and I don't feel that good about Gray. I really don't know if he'll get the control problems figured out. This will be a big year for him. And I have not paid attention to Erian Rodriguez. Must be a favorite of his.
  14. I'd love King but another big trade for a rental seems unlikely to me. That said, if we could swing a deal with Morejon included to beef it up, I'm game. Assad, Alcantara/Caissie, Aliendo (they desperately need upper level catching) and Pedro Ramirez?
  15. Gavin Hollowell is still on the 40 man. Seems unlikely he survives much longer. An easy space to free up would be returning Workman and then working out a deal with Detroit to keep him, if that's how that works.
  16. So he's super low on Caissie and higher on Alcantara at this point than most people. Is this because he thinks Caissie is a power-only guy? And he think KA is more well-rounded?
  17. I thought they'd kick in like 4 or 5 mil. That's quite a bit.
  18. Maybe I missed it but how much are the Astros covering?
  19. Bello is a nice prospect but not a huge loss. Good deal.
  20. This is what I'm thinking. And this is the reason players want the NTC. They have their family and personal lives to consider. I don't think he wants to drag this out but he's probably figuring out logistics before he says yes.
  21. Mets sign Adbert to a two year minor league deal. That sucksssss. Really wanted him to come back.
  22. Always liked Robertson, would be happy to have him back on a one-year deal.
  23. If that's the case, that would be great. Keep an interesting young depth player and open up a 40 man spot.
  24. That's the thing. He is a good player and I just never like the idea of giving up a lot for one year (Tucker included, though I can't say I hated that deal, just how little followed it). We do have someone on the way out for Berti too so there are some moves to be made. So Canario would be fine I suppose but now we have no options for the OF bench (it won't be Alcantara or Caissie). Keegan is a guy I like for personal reasons and he has been effective but I have assumed he wouldn't make it to OD anyway. Brujan seems unlikely to stick around with Berti. I'd rather keep Killian for the time being. Zastryszny is really only around until we get another lefty. If we work out a trade to keep Workman, he remains on the 40 man right?
  25. I like Pressly but not the idea of giving up assets for one year of a reliever. If we can expand the deal, they have this prospect I like named Cam Smith. Wonder what it would take.
