  1. I have really been on the fence about Bellinger. Our team is better with him. It would be nice if we could just throw luxury tax caution to the wind and compete with the best team possible. I do wonder if the Yankees are finally caving on the salary retained or we caved. Or we found another trade partner. The Phillies always seemed like an obvious fit.
  2. No offense but Carson Kelly should be glad he was even scheduled for a press conference.
  3. Phillies are gonna want more than Bellinger for Bohm. I suppose there could be some 3-way trade like: Phillies get: Bellinger, Mariners prospect like Tai Peete and they can have Ben Brown back Cubs get: Castillo, Bohm Mariners get: Hoerner, Phillies prospect like Griff McGarry, Cubs prospect like Drew Gray But I'm not sure that works for everyone. I guess the pieces could be there. I also don't fully get why the Phillies would move Bohm. There's no one knocking on the door at 3B yet and he took a step forward at the plate and in the field while still being relatively cheap.
  4. Given he's coming off injury, I wonder what you could do there, adding Nardi to it because lefty reliever. The Marlins have a real lack of power, wonder if you could do Caissie and Mervis (someone has to want him right?). Heck, their catching situation is Nick Fortes, one of the worst hitters in baseball, and a smattering of guys who haven't reached the majors. Throw in Thaiss!
  5. I think I was expecting like 2/15 so that's not far off but a nice deal. Also has a mutual option for a 3rd year.
  6. Gawd what would the cost be to get Alcantara and Andrew Nardi?
  7. https://x.com/MLBNetwork/status/1867674391485853724/photo/1 Announce the extension already
  8. Well I DID recently write about Kevin Orie on this very site! Maybe once Randall Simon is done fixing sausage races he can be a bat off the bench.
  9. screaming crying throwing up
  10. I think something else to consider is our OF is now Happ - PCA - Tucker. Best defensive OF in the NL?
  11. CRASH THE BOARD, CRASH THE BOARD, CRASH THE BOARD.
  12. I didn't know that and that sucks but if I stopped rooting for any athlete who voted R then I probably wouldn't be watching sports.
  13. Also this is happening because I'm a card collector and have a Cam Smith 1st Bowman card and an Isaac Paredes autograph redemption card due in the mail today.
  14. Considering all the names thrown out, this is fine. I like Paredes and I like Cam Smith but Kyle Tucker is an elite OFer. I was prepared for a worse deal if it happened. Wesneski is another guy I like but we have the depth there. He's not irreplaceable.
  15. I can't believe Jed is doing it. I'm excited. Tucker is so damn good. Even if it's just for one year, puts us in the driver's seat in the division. And maybe he likes playing here and considers an extension. It's not crazy.
  16. Because I am both bad at reading and everything is going looney toons.
  17. No because it should be sufficient but all these rumors have had many thinking otherwise. Who knows what the final deal looks like.
  18. Let's horsefeathers go. I'm guessing Bellinger to the Yankees for Warren and another prospect. Paredes, Cam Smith and Warren and another prospect to Astros.
  19. Yes I am old enough to remember the Brian Roberts fiasco. AND the "Jake Peavy singing Go Cubs Go in a bar" story. One of these days Peavy will be a Cub. Matter of time! Our hypothetical teams in the 2000s were great!
  20. Is that anyone of importance?
  21. Yeah I took Crochet as a response to Yankees getting Fried. At this point feels like Bregman is staying in Houston or going to the Yankees. Maybe the Mariners.
  22. It's always "fun" to watch this place go from resigned defeat to hope to anger and back to resigned defeat. I'd say that if Hoyer doesn't put something together this offseason and we have another mediocre year, he's toast but I'm not sure how much PTR cares at this point as long as he makes money.
