  1. I looked up Miles's ZiPS Projections for 09 for the hell of it: .282/.326/.347 2 HR 33 RBI 2 SB and average range at 3B and 2B/ poor range at SS
  2. After that late season game last year in which some analyst (Sutcliffe?) was pointing out how Hill was changing his catching stance based on the type of pitch to be thrown, I don't want ol' Koyie anywhere near a meaningful Cubs game, unless he's playing for the other team. That said, it would be nice if Hendry could scrape up a little dough for Gregg Zaun. I'd prefer Zaun over Bako, but Zaun would probably want more than $500,000.
  3. Collegian's PSU-USC matchup: http://www.collegian.psu.edu/archive/2008/12/31/penn_stateusc_unit_breakdowns.aspx
  4. Thanks to OSU and Michigan.
  5. I'm definitely going to be rooting for Penn State. I think it'll be much closer than most think - this PSU team is not the same OSU team that got blown away numerous times by athletic teams. Thank you. This "Big 10 teams get killed in BCS games" nonsense has to end. Since when are all teams from a conference over multiple seasons exactly the same? I know, seriously. I'm expecting a good game. I doubt it will be a blowout.
  6. Are we ready for this again?
  7. I'm pretty sure USC is gonna win, but I hope I'm proved wrong.
  8. http://chicagocubsonline.com/archives/2008/12/cubsrumors1231.php#more Not so enthusiastic about the 3 years, but 10 mil a year isn't bad I guess.
  9. So in terms of next year's team, we just traded DeRosa and Marquis for Bradley and Miles I'm angry/disappointed, but not surprised.
  10. I think he's better thank K-Rod, but that's just me.
  11. A reasonable person would think that's where this is leading, but these are the Cubs we're talking about.
  12. Theriot and Miles up the middle might be the Grittiest middle infield in baseball.
  13. Stevens looks like a quality reliever with a high K rate, Archer is only 19, but has zero control, and I don't know about Gobbs. I hope the Pads want these guys.
  14. Interesting. Here are Stevens' stats: http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/S/Jeff-Stevens.shtml
  15. The Indians have a pretty good collection of young arms in the low minors. Obviously, Adam Miller won't be coming back in this trade, I don't think. But I think David Huff is the type of guy that San Diego would be enamored with. Huff was just drafted and signed during the '08 June draft, making him ineligible to be part of a package now, I believe. I thought it was 06
  16. If you think Aaron Miles is an "average middle infielder" then I just don't know what to say. Aaron Miles and Neifi Perez are interchangeable. This is nowhere close to being anything but an irrational stupid move that should get Hendry fired. There's no excuse for this deal. I think that's a little over board Yeah, Miles has at least shown he can hit .280-.290. After that though, I wouldn't expect much. Little power, doesn't steal many bases. Average OBP. I don't know what his defensive peripherals look like but I'm sure they're not horrible. He's rather gritty if you ask me, but I don't think he's as bad as Neifi.
  17. Hmmm, interesting. Any guesses on which prospects? I'll miss DeRo but it's nice to sell high for a change.
  18. Probably not. It's a big contract for a guy coming off a career year, but he could have gotten $20 mil more on the open market.
