  1. Me too, but I'd imagine Calero could be had on a one-year deal worth maybe $2 mil. That's not bad, but then again, this is Jim Hendry.
  2. I'd be fine with Calero.
  3. Looks like the Yanks are now looking to deal two former Cubs
  4. I don't see anything wrong with that list. All good defenders. I'm pretty surprised they didn't include Jeter. Now that would've made it stupid. Someone with a brain and common sense must've created that poll.
  5. This is a meh trade for both teams. The Braves sold high on a guy clearly coming off his best year, but they didn't really get anything that will help. The Yankees are getting a guy who clearly pitches better in the NL then the AL. So again, a "meh" trade for both teams. But from the Yankees perspective, he's only going to be the No. 4 or 5 starter on their staff. So if his productions slips (which, yeah, it will) they also have Burnett, Sabathia, Petitte and Chamberlain/Hughes.
  6. Management overrates him and loves him. If they try to trade him, they'll ask for more than he's worth and no team will bite. And even if we do trade him for something realistic, that return won't be great. I'm fine with keeping him. We don't have any great in house options to replace him, and I'd personally rather keep Castro in the minors one more year, rather than rush him. He's barely played above A ball and people are calling for him to start on the big club. Let's let him start at AA next year, see what he can do there and at AAA and go from there. He's a special talent, I'd rather not rush him. And Theriot isn't horrible. He's not anything special but he can get the job done. Keep him for one more year and shift him to second next year or explore other options.
  7. Solid trade for the Yanks. Way too many people overrate Cabrera.
  8. Good deal for the Jays, depending on the prospect.
  9. I'm glad someone said this. There is literally no way Zambrano would net Cano, much less a package of Cano and others. It's nice to think about, but yeah, the Yankees are in love with Cano. I could see them sending Melky and Hughes, but not with Cano involved.
  10. Well if I played for the Pirates I'd want a drink as soon as the game was over, too.
  11. Take with a grain of salt, because of the lack of sourcing. But worth posting anyway...
  12. I forgot he existed. What a blast from the past.
  13. Bigger 12 You win.
  14. Their season is going up in smoke.
  15. Gardner is an interesting name. I believe he's very highly regarded defensively and on the basepaths. He did a decent job of getting on base last year. It's possible he's Juan Pierre with better defense and baserunning. Which isn't bad at the money he's making. Yeah, I posted this in another thread. I wouldn't hate Gardner. BA compared him to Juan Pierre with better plate discipline. However, Gardner also is a better defender and steals at a better rate.
  16. If we have to go for speed, Gardner wouldn't be horrible. He's a younger, cheaper and slightly better version of Podsednik.
  17. Well, it shows they're exploring options at least. Maybe not good ones though.
