  1. Just disgusting. I know the Twins have Mauer, but they shouldn't be trading Ramos for a relief pitcher.
  2. I've got friends in Philly who don't like this trade because Happ is an "up and coming youngster with a lot of talent." When I try to tell them he's 28 and has been very lucky, they pretend they don't hear me. One said he prefers a rotation of Halladay/Hamels/Blanton/Happ/Moyer to Halladay/Oswalt/Hamels/Blanton/Kendrick. My friends aren't smart.
  3. That's not a bad return, if true. Though I would hope for another player, too.
  4. Buying low on a reliever isn't a bad idea. But if he's overpriced and you're trying to make the playoffs, I'm not sure how good an idea it is.
  5. What did Hendry do to ruin Barrett's trade value? Barrett punched Z and then the Cubs traded him. I don't recall Hendry stressing the need to trade Barrett or anything. Plus, we got Kyler Burke for Barrett, not a bad haul considering he had a .734 OPS for us when we traded him. True. But it is a case of Hendry selling low. I mean, it's not like every player in a dugout/clubhouse scuffle got traded right after. Not complaining about that one, though. As you pointed out we got a nice return. The other trades, on the other hand...
  6. I have a bad feeling that Hendry will deal Fontenot for a PTBNL instead of Theriot.
  7. It's nice to see a no-no for the Rays after they had a couple thrown against them.
  8. I knew they were bad, but jesus. That's awful.
  9. Yankees are interested now. Probably pissed for losing out on Lee and Harden. Maybe this makes them more likely to make a bigger offer:
  10. That's what I like to hear. All that remains to be seen is if Hendry can get everything he can for them. Here's to hoping other teams overvalue Theriot's grit.
  11. Dan Haren>>John Lackey. Angels didn't really give up all that much. Nice deal for them.
  12. In theory it's a great idea. But I imagine we'd have to at least pick up a healthy portion of Fukudome's contract.
  13. From DeLuca: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/2528230,ted-lilly-trade-talks-cubs-072310.article
  14. The Royals named Wilson Betemit as their third baseman for the rest of the year. Gordon gets to rot in AAA.
  15. I know the Angels needed some offense from the hot corner, but I think they gave up a little too much.
  16. Traded by Chicago Cubs with Jamie Moyer and Drew Hall to Texas Rangers in exchange for Mitch Williams, Paul Kilgus, Steve Wilson, Curt Wilkerson, Luis Benitez and Pablo Delgado (December 5, 1988). Great trade
