  1. I honestly wasn't sure he'd survive the roster cuts last year after adding Rea. Same this year but now he's coming off an injury-shortened season and we would be selling low in a trade.
  2. This is fine. It's not exciting but Rea handled his role well this year. Gives us more options and certainty. And it's not so much that we can't part with him if it doesn't work out again.
  3. Past offseasons, Tucker trade aside, have not given me a lot of hope. I really think Ricketts hamstrings Hoyer/ they don't prioritize assets well.
  4. Exactly. It's giving me cost-cutting moves of past offseasons. They basically gave him back to Baltimore for the cost of the buy out.
  5. Hate it. Maybe he isn't worth the total value of the deal but he's still pretty solid and our rotation is patchwork at best already. Horton, Taillon, Boyd and then all question marks. Will Brown take a step forward? Will Wicks figure it out? Are Steele and Assad healthy?
  6. I wasn't sure they'd keep him at 9 mil so that's whatever but I hoped they'd decline and work out something like 2/14. Annoying, but it's early in the offseason.
  7. Yeah I was more or less just throwing an idea out there but the crux is I'm not sure we line up in a trade and we could probably get a better fit for the roster elsewhere. Bohm is a nice hitter but won't be worth what the Phillies want in return.
  8. I like Bohm a lot as a guy who also lives in Philly and roots for the Philies as a 2nd team. But I cannot imagine the Phillies would accept what we would have to offer for him. I think we wouldn't want to give up much and the Phillies would want a haul. A somewhat gross idea is using their desire to get rid of Castellanos and acquire both him and Bohm and then maybe we give them back Ben Brown and a prospect. But Castellanos has been bad and would be a depressing fallback option if we don't get Tucker back.
  9. So what's Ayers' best case scenario? Good throwing catcher with a little power? Baseball savant listed these as the catchers with sub 1.9 pop times this season: Hayden Senger, JT Realmuto, Patrick Bailey, Luis Torrens, Endy Rodriguez, Rafael Marchan, Henry Davis, Eric Haase, Drew Millas, Shea Langeliers.
  10. Is there any reason to keep Jon Long out of the Justin Turner replacement conversation other than he hasn't played above AAA yet?
  11. Unsure where to put this but Keegan Thompson elected free agency. I had high hopes for him a few years ago. He gave us some good innings. Farewell.
  12. This offseason will be interesting. The offense basically broke in the second half but almost everyone is locked in to run it back. I'm not expecting an overhaul but I wonder if they try to convince Tucker to take the Bregman deal (opt out after one year). Or they let Caissie and Alcantara battle it out for RF, sign Bregman and trade Shaw for pitching. I kinda doubt they go that route, though. The rotation is: Boyd, Taillon, Shota (if he stays), Horton, Rea, Assad until Steele comes back. But the pen is basically wide open. I think only Hodge and Palencia and the Iowa guys are under contract (I'd love Kittredge back but they're not exercising a $9 million option). They need a big bat, another good SP and some pen arms. But I'm worried they'll play it safe and do little of note. Another thing to consider is there are a lot of R5 eligible players in the system. Some space is gonna be needed for a few.
  13. Shocked Dansby wasn't a finalist. I expect PCA to win. Hoping Happ and Nico get theirs. That will probably be it. Hard to beat out the Giants at P and C. and Ke'Bryan Hayes is pretty elite at third. In the AL, Ernie Clement was a finalist at both 3B and Utility. Stuffing the ballot!
  14. Easy win. Never broke a sweat. (wipes brow) Keller better buy Kittridge a nice bottle of alcohol for bailing him out there.
  15. Honestly allowing just 1 there is fine. Not ideal but it could've been worse.
  16. I know we're getting some robot umps next season but Kelly's framing has been pretty good.
