  1. trade him to the reds for adam dunn.
  2. you're right. hill really put a damper on the cubs postseason hopes today. they were riding a hell of a winning streak until this afternoon. plus, rusch has been AWESOME lately!
  3. didn't the reds ask for harden when the a's called about dunn? if so, what's the point of this complaint anyway? to show how stupid hendry is? to talk about how much hill sucks? i don't really get this one...
  4. yep. he's done...i can tell all i need to know about a guy after four starts. this whole season is the fault of hill and patterson. Who talked about CPatt there? Does anyone actually read anymore? Anyway, I'm not saying Hill is a failure or to blame for the season. What I'm pointing out is that a lot of people thought Hill was a sticking point in a trade for Dunn or any Reds outfielder. Since this poor performance is against Reds, chances are they will no longer want him as much in a trade. In other words, this performance decreases his value to the Reds if there ever was a trade to discuss with the Reds. and if there's one thing we've learned from years worth of trade deadline talk, it's that every rumor you hear is true. i'm sure that if hendry would have offered hill for dunn, he would have gotten laughed straight out of town.

  6. TODD HOLLANDSWORTH (getting dusty to use Todd properly would be a start) But that's the problem. If Todd is on the roster he'll be misused. He's one of "Dusty's boys". For this team to do anything in 2006, you first have to start by taking Dusty's toys away. And Hollandsworth only has 3 career games at 1B. I was thinking of a little more experienced 1B man. branyan. he can play 3b too, which officially makes macias expendable since it appears as though his biggest asset is the fact that he's the only guy that can back up at 3b (though i'm sure neifi could do it). branyan would be a left handed pinch-hitter a left-handed complement to lee at first, a backup 3b and a fifth OFer. of course, i'm not so sure the cubs wouldn't rather fill all those spots with four crappy players instead of one decent one...
  7. pierre has gone the orlando cabrera route of going from slightly underrated to ridiculously, ridiculously overrated. cabrera cashed in that way, pierre probably will too. i just hope it isn't w/ the cubs.
  8. gee, i guess leadoff would be an ok spot to put the guy with the .500 obp.
  9. september 1st of what year? if you're talking about any year before 2008, i second jc's answer.
  10. that doesn't even makes sense. the fact that he had a hot couple of weeks means that it was mental? that's your proof? he's had hot streaks like that during his big league career. and he absolutely sucked for a pretty good period while he was down there too...what is that proof of? again, there is NOT 'strong numeric proof' of anything. a couple weeks worth of numbers is NEVER strong numeric proof of anything. this is just more of people thinking they know the players and that every case of struggles is due to a bad attitude.
  11. i saw that commercial too...grant johnson and a couple other chiefs were in it.
  12. =D> Corey is now 3-3 with 4 RBIs. He also now has 5 HRs at Iowa and a BA of .297. Mitre is a groundball machine tonight. i wish he'd concentrate on slapping the ball more...juan pierre style. :D Would you also want him to get caught stealing more often? :P if at all possible. less homeruns and xbh and more slap singles and caught stealing.

  14. Not to be cliche, but Z needs to play for the name on the front of the jersey and the guys behind him. So what if he doesn't like Dusty. This is just another in the long line of immature moves by Carlos. david eckstein would slit his own wrists for his team.
  15. I wouldnt go so far as to say Lawton's defensive lapse is due to Dusty. Lawton has never been a good defensive player. The Cubs knew what they were getting into when they picked him up. Unfortunately, the Lawton trade is looking more and more like a mistake. Lawton is unlikely to be a Cub in 2006, while Gerut would have been a nice player to have next year, especially as a fourth outfielder and a left-handed bat off of the bench (even with his arbitration increased salary). The only bright side to all of this is the possibility that Lawton nets us a compensatory draft pick as a free agent. I've been saying that and only have been criticized when I have pointed that out. Not that Lawton is a bad player it's just that he wont make a difference. and what available player would have?
  16. Hard to tell. Z went to the clubhouse, and there appreared to be some confusion in the dugout. The Weurtz got up in the pen. z walked into the dugout shaking his head. rothschild came up to him, but z did the finger across the throat thing and walked right past him to the clubhouse. rothschild followed him for a second with a confused look on his face before turning around. Interesting. Of course, he was close to being done anyways and he didn't have it tonight. dusty's rep for being a guy that could massage egos sure has gone to hell, eh?

The players have lost repect for anyone on the coaching staff. then zambrano and i have something in common!

  19. Hey, the only thing that could get Baker fired quicker than losing is if he loses the control of the team. if? i think it already happened. three seasons in chicago for dusty, three meltdowns to end the season. time to go, my friend.
  20. most of the team quit weeks ago...carlos was just the first to come out and say it.
  21. wow, did they just show zambrano quitting???
  22. 80 pitches thru three for carlos. 40 pitches thru three for one of the most bb prone SP in the league.
  23. Yes Also thank Macias for not hitting the cut off man. he can play every position!
  24. every day this team finds new ways to play terrible baseball. but don't worry...i think there's like 9 months left in the season.
