  1. Lol @ your obsession. Perhaps it would have been idiotic to let Hill get shelled a third time in a row??? I'm glad he got on his feet @ Iowa. Let him start the rest of the way and move Rusch to the pen. what's funny is that when hill was pitching poorly, and rusch was pitching well the fact that you were starting a thread per day about it was just fine. but now that you've been proven WRONG (and have been noticeably silent on the matter), i'm 'obsessed' with it. of course when you were saying the two needed to be flipped it was after hill had pitched poorly, and when i said that sending hill down for rusch was stupid it was before rusch pitched poorly. but i guess it's easier to be 'right' when you say stuff after the fact.
  2. When you're trying to win, you're trying to win. Rusch has been there all year and the Cubs owe it to him and their fans to keep him out there despite the results. that's my favorite line...that the cubs owe it to the fans to try and win. and to do so they're going to trot out the same stiffs that have gotten them into a fifth place deadlock. makes sense to me.
  3. let's hear it for the cubs and their decision to swap hill with rusch! hill's three starts since being sent down... 3-0, 20 1/3 ip, 17 h, 4 er, 3 bb, 28 k's rusch since having a rotation spot dropped in his lap... 0-4, 16 1/3 ip, 32 h, 18 er, 6 bb's, 15 k's in a season full of idiotic decisions, it'd be hard to say this was the cubs' worst one, but it's pretty darn stupid. good job, idiots. anyone still want to argue that the cubs made the right call????
  4. lee out of the game. how mad would you be if you bought tickets to this game?
  5. yes can i please hear from the posters that were arguing that rusch should be starting instead of hill because he was pitching better....i believe this will put him over a 10.00 era for his last 6 appearances. obviously it's harder to tell if veterens aren't ready for the majors Honestly I was thinking he would turn it around. I think he needs 4 or 5 more strats to work the kinks out. slot him in there for the rotation next year just to be on the safe side. hill is 3-0 with 27 k's in his three starts since being sent down. i love the cubs.
  6. You got that right and chemistry galores. plus, they got rid of all the bad attitudes. and the announcers. problems solved!
  7. good thing the kids didn't play today...the cubs owe it to their fans to win as many games as possible.
  8. i can't wait to update my rusch v. hill stats after this pathetic outing. the excuse machine will be in full force after this one.
  9. thanks for not walking the pitcher to force in a run, rusch. you've earned a spot in the 2006 rotation.
  10. if you took obp points away for hitting into dp's, neifi's obp may be below his batting average.
  11. neifi's hot start put his title of 'worst hitter of his generation' in jeopardy. he's gotta secure his stronghold on that baby.
  12. that's what i don't get. he keeps saying things like you have to reward the guys who got you here (which is tied for fifth w/ cincy) and that you have to play vets because you owe it to the fans to try and win games (even though those vets have NOT won you games). i'm actually gonna say that i hope the cubs lose today.
  13. thank goodness rusch is getting another start. he's been fantastic lately. boy, did that 'send down hill, give rusch a spot in the rotation' move pay off BIG TIME.
  14. yeah, because hollandsworth, neifi, macias and rusch have been sooooo consistent this year.
  15. more good stuff. sounds like he's getting it pretty good from the media about playing the kids... yeah, his sub-.300 obp has been HUGE for the cubs this year. thank the heavens he's been around to play below average baseball...where would we be w/o st. neifi?? he continues to use this 'gotta win games' line as if playing the youngsters guarantees a loss and playing the veterans guarantees a win. here's the thing...you've been playing the vets all year, and you're fighting w/ cincinnati for fifth place. you haven't won all year with these scrubs, why do you think it's gonna happen now? and doesn't this contradict his statements about how september call ups will perform better than normal because no one has a book on them? so if that's the case, and you want to win games...shouldn't they play?
  16. I'll be there tomorrow and possibly Wed., they did pass out free tickets as we were leaving tonight for Wednesday's game. Free tickets? Wow. Beloit, WI. General admission on a Wednesday Night, there was probably about 1,000 maybe 1500 max. there tonight. Part of the reason why I like going to Beloit, plus I sit in the reserved area regardless. i'm the same way. in des moines, i can pay $6 to sit 40 rows up down the lf line sandwiched in between 25 sweaty drunks, or i can pony up $10 and sit in the second row behind home plate. it's worth the extra $4. thanks for the report.
  17. i was afraid we were going to see the kerry wood debacle after he was used in a pointless game two days before shoulder surgery. good stuff.
  18. that hit by cedeno didn't count. the marlins didn't have a 'book' on him yet, so it's unfair to give him credit for the hit. that's why you can't judge rookies late in the season. duh.
  19. this has to just kill dusty. he's probably begging hendry to sign armando rios so he can continue to stick one of his guys out in lf. trading hollandsworth and shutting wood down...hendry may be realizing that he has to take some decisions out of dusty's hands.
  20. he's not lying about the chicken. when i went to a chiefs game this summer, i was at the concession stand and i looked over and there he was...getting chicken. :D
  21. top 3 get in. HBC and buddiga split, and buddiga has a 150+ points advantage on HBC. so HBC needs a buddiga loss (and a HBC win), OR if buddiga wins (and HBC wins), HBC needs to outscore buddiga by a bundle.
  22. did raw and bb tie this week?
  23. hate to be the one to break it to you....but only the top 3 teams in each division make the playoffs. i thought... the way i see it -- and i may be totally wrong -- tootie has clinched the #1 spot in our division (and a first round bye). w/ my win, i clinched the #2 spot (because i have the tie breaker edge in points and head to head w/ both you and buddiga). so the last spot is between you and buddiga. assuming you both win this week, you'll be tied for third. first tie breaker is head to head, and you guys split. next tie breaker is points...and buddiga's up 150ish on you there. so, i think you should be pulling pretty hard for him to lose...or for you to outscore him by more than 150 points this week. someone please correct me if i'm wrong...
  24. i think so.
