  1. if the cubs get involved, it's going to be to get pierre. it's pretty obvious that hendry thinks pierre > wilkerson.
  2. if true, that shows how clueless the cubs really are. if they would rather part w/ walker than the equivalent of saarloos and some other 'prospect', then, well...
  3. i still think blalock will bounce back from his subpar 2005. he just turned 25 in november, and he had .850+ OPS in 2003 and 2004. that being said, i don't see why the cubs would have any interest.
  4. in addition to rfk, it's important to remember that the nl east, overall, isn't a great hitter's division. the central, on the other hand, w/ mil, hou, cin, is a pretty darn good hitter's division.
  5. Well, at least there's a 50% chance of me not hating the cubs. Why not 75% which of Lugo, Wilkerson, and Gathright don't you like? gathright. decent obp, but mostly a product of his really high minor league ba, which i wouldn't count on him replicating in the bigs.
  6. well, at least there's a 50% chance of me not hating the cubs.
  7. that BA's going to like sweet signed in silver sharpie.
  8. And it would be a terrible trade for the Cubs. they'd arguably be giving up more than boston did to get beckett.
  9. not to mention the fact that hendry's wish list doesn't match the team's needs. cedeno is your ss, walker is your 2b. fill the outfield now please.
  10. and... cubs can't top those offers.
  11. could be tough to compete w/ the braves to get lugo...
  12. williams + novoa/wuertz probably isn't as good as backe + qualls...but if the cubs throw in both novoa and wuertz (or perhaps ohman, who i think is expendable) + prospects, they could match/beat houston's offer. if the phils are looking for something along the lines of clement + trot, i don't know if the cubs can put together a similar package.
  13. i'd love to have drew. but the dodgers don't need anyone to 'take bradley off their hands.' for one, lots of teams (i'm guessing) would be willing to take him in a trade...it's not like he's got a terrible contract. secondly, if they want to get rid of him that bad they can just non tender him.
  14. That would be acceptable production for RF, but it's not close to a guarantee, and wouldn't even be top notch. Wilkerson, if anything, is likely to be in the low to mid 800s in OPS next year, very solid for a CF. Couple that with Abreu in RF and suddenly you've got a very good offense, with good production in the OF as a whole. I agree, but everything I have heard is that the Phillies want a front end SP, the Cubs aren't going to give them Prior or Z. I would trade Patterson to the Nats for Wilkerson, and throw Williams, Hill, Pinto and spare parts at the Reds for Dunn. yeah, and boras is saying he wants seven years for damon. nobody's going to give up a prior/z type for two years of 30+ abreu, especially at 15 mil/year. i would think it would take more to get dunn than it would to get abreu.
  15. a guy's numbers look awesome when you say what he's done over three season...36 homers and 171 rbis!
  16. from the pittsburgh post gazette...
  17. Are you assuming that Zito is really a Cub? let's just say that i ordered my #75 zito cubs jersey off mlb's website.
  18. so...does zito become the #3 in the rotation or what? ahead of wood? throw him in the middle since he's a lefty? thoughts?
  19. explain yourself.
  20. you actually get to start seven false trade rumors before you get canned.
  21. If you can upgrade RF over a potential Jacque Jones signing, then it might be worth it to slightly downgrade 2B. true. right now i'm just hoping for minimal damage.
  22. does he know how to correct his obviously horrid mechanics to prevent inevitable injury?
  23. too bad he hasn't been able to use all those awesome pitches to put up #'s better than wood.
