  1. i just love the trade kerry posters. after all, he's 1) coming off a great year 2) dependable 3) cheap 4) locked up long term 5) not coming off surgery 6) doesn't have a no trade clause. i'm sure the market for him is through the roof!
  2. Or it could be an indication of how little MLB GM's value the addition of Bradley to their team. The mid-level prospect the Dodger's received was probably pretty close to the best offer they saw from any team. Place Bradley's stats, talent and age on any other outfielder and they would offer a much higher return. When considering the baggage Bradley brings along...........the value plummets. I'm glad Hendry stayed away. has hendry proven to be a better gm than beane? i don't think so.
  3. Ponson or Javy? They did void Ponson's deal, but with the MLBPA, you never know what kind of fight they'll put up. I don't see a fit, unless the Cubs move either to a 3rd team, and only take on some salary. Would Atlanta want Javy back? i think they're happy w/ mccann.
  4. tejada's probably overrated, but the cubs are at the point where they would almost have to do this given the fact that it seems like it's going to be a jacque-tastic summer at wrigley. jones-pierre-cedeno isn't going to cut it. jones-pierre-tejada may.
  5. yeah, i'm thankful for anything that brings the cubs closer to signing jacque jones to a three year deal.
  6. when a team with a 100 mil payroll finishes in 4th place (and w/ a sub-.500 record), i don't know how you can be surprised by the board being overrun w/ posters ripping the organization. what nice things can be said about a team like that?
  7. geez, jacque jones sucks. sucks.
  8. fixed Bradley WON'T even play but for half the season! He's only played over 100 games TWICE in all his years. Has someone put some special tonic y'alls juice that makes you fall in love with a guy who A) Is a proven headcase and a cancer in the clubhouse and B) averages ONLY 76 games a year!! This would be THE typical Cubs pickup! Just say no! I'm not saying Jones is a better baseball player, but i DO know that he more than likely isn't going to call reporters "uncle tom's" or throw things at fans, scream at umpires, and i DO know that he'll more than likely play OVER 76 games this year. and suck during the majority of them.
  9. I doubt Wood's in Chicago in 2007. They should try to deal him now. yeah, teams are probably falling all over each other trying to get at wood...his value is sky high right now. he's dependable, cheap, and locked up long term. plus, he doesn't have a no trade clause.
  10. minus like 30 points in OBP and 40 points in SLG. but yeah, other than that, they're twins.
  11. i think i saw him three times (maybe four?) in des moines, and i don't think i ever saw a change.
  12. projection for prince... http://www.rotoauthority.com/2005/12/prince_fielder_.html .274/36/108 :D
  13. i'd rather watch nolasco give up eight runs than jimmy anderson give up two.
  14. the cubs missed the playoffs a bunch of times w/ ernie banks too. if only jim leyritz was available to trade banks for.
  15. yeah, ortiz should know something about what it's like to be overrated.
  16. slappy mcsingle for pierre.
  17. Bruce, nice article today about Tejada. I just hope that Hendry shares your enthusiasm. Do you think Hendry views Tejada as someone that the Cubs would be willing to part with "untouchables"? http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/sportsstory.asp?id=130468 Oh, I think so. Hendry just should have signed Tejada after the 03 season, and gotten rid of Alex Gonzalez, even if he had to pay him to play for someone else. That move still irks me. Did he even try? You would think he would have had a good shot with his good buddy Sosa still on the team then, along with Alou and Ramirez. no kidding.
  18. I don't know if anyone is saying that. The future ones MIGHT work out, but by looking at the past we can see that is far from a lock. no kidding. that's the way it is in every system. people act like the cubs system is the only one w/ flops.
  19. i like when people justify trading prospects by throwing out names of all the cub busts and how they've never amounted to anything. never mind zambrano, garland, dontrelle, and other guys that have panned out.
  20. needless to say, i'm not nearly as excited about going to see the i-cubs as i was last week.
  21. yeah, he's a dick.
  22. agreed. i don't think there's any way the cubs are going to pay him.
