  1. nope. if a group of impatient cub fans who have never checked a minor league box score, let alone listened to a minor league game on the radio or watched one in person is ready to give their expert opinion on somebody they've seen throw 20 innings, then by golly, i'm on board.
  2. go lynx! i wish travis hafner would do something for you. geez!
  3. he's not fast enough. sorry.
  4. after the marlins 11 run outburst today, the cubs have the worst offense in the NL. the team w/ nearly a 100 mil payroll has a worse offense than the marlins. of course, it's all b/c lee got hurt and has nothing to do w/ the rest of the cubs woeful lineup.
  5. i'm anticipating lots of posts like this in the next 12 hours.
  6. uh oh, a scoreless inning for rusch. see in des moines next week, rich.
  7. *raises hand* His FB has been up, it ain't good enough to be up. Unless it's way up. I'm just generally in too lousy a mood to deal with the idiots tonight. I'm about to go on a banning rampage on some pompous clowns. srbin and oldcubsfan would be first on the list. His FB doesn't look the same as it did when I seen him at Lansing. I talked to a scout today who said similar things about J. Williams in '03 compared to now as far as missing the pop on the FB. I believe that about Williams. He's just not the same pitcher. Disappointed to hear you say that about Hill. I wish I could see the damned game. me too. i've been waiting for hill to get a shot all season, and this is the FIRST game i haven't been able to get w/ the dish.
  8. well, he's standing there holding a bat...don't know if i'd call it hitting. i would have let hill bat. hope is slim for this game, and this bullpen is going to get killed by june. and what an expensive bullpen it is.
  9. you don't need two ankles to strike out that stiff. i wouldn't want to come out if were cruz...two outs away from a win against a team that hasn't scored a run in a month.
  10. *raises hand* His FB has been up, it ain't good enough to be up. well, you're not an idiot. :D it just drives me nuts to listen to these guys, who have never looked at one minor league box score in their lives, act like they know one thing about guys like hill and gooz. of course, all these guys KNEW marshall was awesome.
  11. thanks for getting hurt, mr. ohka. Harang 8.0 109 7 1 1 11
  12. [expletive]...4-0 now. i'm not even touching the game thread tonight...at least that's what i'm telling myself. there's gonna be so much 'hill sucks' that i think my head would explode. and nothing pisses me off more than a bunch of idiots who have seen a guy pitch four innings in their lives making bold expert declarations about his future.
  13. That's an excellent point. At least now he won't have to worry as much about the runners and can just pitch. If Barrett were catching the runners would be moving all night long. exactly. now he just has to worry about pitching a shut out b/c he isn't going to get any run support.
  14. are you kidding me? i've been waiting all year for hill to get his shot, and the game's on wciu????????
  15. the scary thing is that the cubs are second to last in the NL in runs even though they're hitting well w/ guys on base. imagine how bad it's gonna get when the cubs' average w/ RISP 'regresses to the mean.' ouch.
  16. who says i have too many brewers! i was slightly afraid of turnbow v. bonds with the tying run at the plate, however.
  17. Yeah right. Like the Cubs will have a young great lefty outfield prospect in eight years. ok, then i predict a veteran platoon of corey patterson and restovich in 2016.
  18. if it makes you feel any better he'll probably be platooning w/ some young great lefty cub outfield prospect eight years from now.
  19. I'm probably going to reveal my math ineptitude here, but oh well... Doesn't the mean have to be .500? If each game always results in a win and a loss, and there are X number of games, then there will always be just as many wins as losses each season leaguewide. Now---in each division it's not necessarily the case of course. no, the mean doesn't have to be .500. you're telling me that if the yankees and the royals each played 1,000 games w/ their current rosters, they'd both eventually settle around .500? no way.
  20. who says the mean is .500?
  21. cubs leave 'em loaded. shocking.
  22. heh, thank goodness the cubs could muster up just enough offense so that valverde can get another save. i hate the cubs right now. nice ab, mabry.
  23. how in the hell is that guy on a major league roster. let alone one that has a 100 mil payroll?
  24. He was out of options, hence the trade. Koronka was not out of options. Wasn't he traded to make room on the 40 man? he was traded b/c hendry has an inexplicable fetish for fast guys that can play multiple positions and put up a .580 OPS.
