  1. man, i just looked at putz's numbers for the season...that guy's good.
  2. yeah, earlier today i noticed he's in the top 30 for all offensive players -- not just FA's -- over the past three weeks. http://roadkill123.baseball.sportsline.com/stats/sortable/all:U/21d:p/standard
  3. don't hate.
  4. anybody know why the phils run myers out there for a 120 pitch CG? not that i'm complaining...
  5. i need to build up as big of a lead as possible. you'll be tough to beat in week 2.
  6. this is a yearly event where the i-cubs get a bunch of guys to come sign autographs. last year they had aparicio, carew, reggie jackson and seaver. the year before that was lou brock (who didn't end up showing), puckett, molitor and winfield. so that's 8/8 on hall of famers. well, the first person announced for this year's event.... deion sanders????? what???
  7. i did claim him prior to the time that lineups were due, if that makes you feel any better. I'm liking him better this inning! -- edit Damn double plays. yeah, that was lucky. thankfully they took him out...i've lost a couple close QS tonight, so i'm glad to get this one.
  8. i did claim him prior to the time that lineups were due, if that makes you feel any better.
  9. You make fun of me for Garza and then complain about this?!? i realize i had it coming, but it still stings.
  10. you gotta be [expletive] kidding me...one out away from a QS and sheets gives up an rbi double to the pitcher.
  11. great 5 2/3, kid...hit the showers!
  12. all right, i'm perfectly fine with halladay, webb and oswalt throwing gems. but i'm gonna need the red sox to score some runs off garza.
  13. that dodger game was good to me.
  14. and if you really want me to take hensley out of the lineup, i will. i don't know how good i feel about him anyway...
  15. Cheater!!!! Nice start for the good guys tonight. about even offensively through day one. your pen has been good to you...so far. i'm just glad oswalt didn't throw a shutout. as long as you keep the 30 point starts to a minimum, i think my offense can keep me in it. i just about sat glaus this week...glad i didn't.
  16. hill loses to carpenter in his bid to be NL player of the week. hill: 2-0, 14 2/3 ip, 0.61 era, 0.75 whip, 16 k's carpenter: 2-0, 16 ip, 0.56 era, 0.94 whip, 15 k's BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if the cubs hadn't made all those defensive miscues in his first start, he could have lasted longer and had a better case.
  17. nevermind, juan. hensley's in my lineup now. thanks...
  18. ok, check that. juan, i tried to add clay hensley and drop ted lilly, but i think i need your approval. i was hoping to get him in time to put him in my lineup for his start tomorrow night. i put in the waiver claim before the games started tonight, by the way.
  19. so how many starts will we each have? i get two start weeks this week from sheets and maybe harang...so that gives me seven for week 1. in week 2, i get two from clemens and maybe myers. if schilling's healthy, i'll put him back in the lineup, and he could get two starts...so that's eight in week 2. you get two starts from garza and oswalt in week 1...seven starts for you. then you'll cheat and sub bonser in for garza for week 2, giving you nine starts (two each from bonser, halladay, escobar, and webb). for some damn reason, the dbacks end their season playing 13 straight days w/o a day off, otherwise webb wouldn't double up. i think i have a better team, but your pitching staff is better, and you get triple starts from three studs. i am glad that one team isn't out-starting the other 16-10 or something.
  20. does hendry believe the glendon rusch experience has run its course? i'm not so sure he does.
  21. six frickin' points! Couldn't one of quentin, konerko, or youkilis have played last night? pretty sad semifinal tim - but so goes fantasy baseball! yes, i was ashamed of both of your performances. and i'd like to carry over 75 or so points for this round, please.
  22. here's the second tim and adam bitch about how much their team sucks even though they are in the championship causing everyone else to hate their guts thread. quick check...is blanco eligible at 1b yet?
  23. dude, the number of times i've 'told you so' after a good hill outing (once, if that) pales in comparison to the number of told you so's from hill's doubters after a bad outing. but just to get the score a little closer...told you so.
  24. I don't feel right scoring 235 and winning. But I guess I'll take it. i'm not too psyched despite scoring 325 since i don't think i can count on my pitching to go 6-1 with five QS and seven saves again. i mean, as much as i like hill, i'm not penciling him in for another shutout this week... my infield needs to be much better this week.
  25. No. Hendry wasn't smart enough to include a club option in the contract. They may have basically paid him to rehabilitate for a year only to see him walk away.Did it occur to you that maybe Miller didn't want it? Wow. you do know that a contract is a two way deal, right? Yes, I do. That's my point. Just because the Cubs don't hold a team option on Miller next season doesn't automatically mean that Hendry didn't think to try to get it. Contracts are a "two way deal", as you put it. What was your point, exactly? that nobody held a gun to hendry's head and forced him to sign miller w/o an option. hendry could have said no option, no contract. you make it sound as though hendry had no choice.
