  1. boy, the cubs are getting a great return on that 10 mil+ investment. dempster, not surprisingly, has been terrible. eyre has not been nearly as good as his era would indicate. only howry has been good, and he's still not worth the money he's getting. hendry needs to realize that signing the free agent reliever who is coming off the best contract year is not a very smart or cost-effective strategy.
  2. not sure why tim would feel good but it probably makes you feel good. that being said, a reverse 180 swing is not out of the question though improbable. yeah, i was being sarcastic...that really has to piss tim off. pretty lucky for me to have that kind of week during the championship. i agree that it's not over. he's got a bunch of starts this week, and you never know who is going to play and how much during the final week of the season.
  3. cool. it has to make tim feel good to know that the record was established during the championship game.
  4. back in the live ball era (2003) lynx somehow scored 719 points in one game.
  5. who is going to drive in runs with his glove in his absence?
  6. wow is right. of my 10 position players, 9 homered...7 had more than one homer. 5 of the 10 position players scored 28 points or more...all had over 15 points (led by andruw's 56). all my SP's had at least one win and one QS...and at least 24 points. i had two CG's (both against the lowly cubs...finally they did something right!). all my closers had two saves. looks like it may be a modern day roadkill weekly record for points...468.3. i take a 187.05 point lead into week 2. i may have six starts (assuming the phils haven't clinched the wild card by the last day), while tim looks to have eight.
  7. Yes but his OBP is so nice, and I still contend he would hit for more power at Wrigley. and in the nl central in general.
  8. I disagree. Teams settle for defense only catchers because they have no other choice. Many teams would love to get a player that provide what Barrett does offensively. AL teams in particular that could keep his bat in the lineup would be very eager. agreed. teams may say they want a defensive catcher, but that's just because they can't get a good hitting catcher. plus, teams don't want to hurt the feelings of the mike mathenys of the world.
  9. you really did have a good week...my team just picked a good time to have one of the best weeks in RK history. three more QS and three more homers today...and i stil have clemens for tonight.
  10. i manage the best team.
  11. wait, goony's in the league now?
  12. which team does he have?
  13. clutch! exactly!
  14. that trade looked pretty bad for me right up until monday.
  15. Are you somehow ending up with 9 starts this week? for some stupid reason clemens is pitching tomorrow on three days rest. i think i'll only have six (double starts from myers) next week. its a must win game for houston! :D it sounds like they may actually have this be his last start of the season...this way he'll end with a home start. so i get shorted a start and he'll probably suck tomorrow. i can't really complain about how the week's going so far, however.

  17. that escalated quickly.
  18. nice choke job, #5.
  19. those were some sad faces in the crowd.
  20. geez, my team can do no wrong...70+ points today w/o a start...340+ points for the week, and i have four starts tomorrow. obviously, i couldn't have asked for much more than this for week 1.
  21. i almost just want to bench all my relievers right now, because blown saves are the quickest way for me to lose this lead.
  22. eh, the homeruns were flukes...if he keeps missing bats at this rate, i'd be willing to bet he doesn't give up three homers in very many games. third 10+ k game of the MONTH for hill...era is still under 2 for september.
  23. oh, i think it's a little early to say that...though i am having a ridiculous week so far. but you could do the same next week.
