    damn. i don't start gaudin (26 points) and now sheets and smoltz are both getting shelled. and now it looks like smoltz is out w/ an injury. at least aj and fielder did some of the damage.

    Point taken. if it were your dad that died in that car accident, and that car accident were caused by the other driver, I bet your mom wouldn't feel a lawsuit was an abuse of the judicial system. I bet your mom would not only be distraught over losing a person she loved, but she would also be wondering how she is going to keep her house, her car, and you and your siblings fed now that she no longer has your dad's income to help raise the family. I think this post really shows how you are looking at these issues with blinders on and as the other person said, imposing your values onto everyone else. I think it also shows just how out of step you are with mainstream society on many of these issues. I suggest you stop talking about my family you brought it up like ten times. i guess you don't like people talking about stuff they know nothing about. now you know how everyone feels when you post.

There is nothing really to get. You are in the minority. Pretty much 99% of baseball fans agree bringing the tow truck driver and stalled car owner to court is assinine. But carry on. Like it or not, we have an easily accessible legal system. The problem I see with determining negligence or liability based on media and police reports up to this point, is simple --- we don't know all of the facts. I worked for a firm defending insurance cases like this and similar cases were brought against the insurance company. There were generally two outcomes: 1. There were either more facts to justify the law suit or 2. The plaintiff lost. Let the system work. Because the "system" is sooo perfect. Please :roll: i'd love to hear some of your ideas to fix it.

    Why is it so diffucult for so many folks to understand that *both* of the following can be true, simultaneously: * Josh Hancock was incredibly stupid, foolish, reckless, and blameworthy; * Other people besides Josh Hancock contributed to the accident, and might bear a portion of the blame. Why are these concepts viewed as mutually exclusive? They're not. I think a lot of people just don't believe point number two is true. he said that they both could be true. if point number two isn't true, then hancock will lose. but that determination has to be made by a judge/jury, not message board majority.

    Wait, he took Hill out after just 66 pitches of shutout baseball? I'm still a fan of Sweet Lou, but what the hell? We had a man on 3rd and 2 outs. We had to pinch hit for Hill. why?

    if it were zambrano and his 5+ era, he would have definitely went back out there. maybe lou wants to save hill for relief duty this week b/c, as we know, when the pen does something wrong, a completely unrelated player is demoted.

    Chad Cordero is mediocre? Please explain. oh, right, sorry. 1.71 WHIP is worse than mediocre come on, man, that's just stupid. he's pitched 22 innings this year. 2003 - 0.63 2004 - 1.35 2005 - 0.97 2006 - 1.10 1.17 for his career. it's foolish to compare him to guys like mike williams. he's been very good for his entire career (263 innings) save for 12 bad innings to begin the season.

    barring a four homer night from granderson and a three inning save from jones, i'll have won my fourth straight and there should be a three way tie for first in the east. nathan, cordero and paps combine for 65.25 points, while quakers' pen goes for 11.75. that helped.

    Barrett is bordering on being completely useless at this point. I think his offenseive numbers are decent at home, but he's Neifi-esque on the road...combine that with his typical bad to worse dfense and he's making Blanco look like a MUCH better option at this point. he chokes pretty regularly defensively late in the game, but he'd have to play with no mitt to make blanco look like a better option period, let alone a MUCH better option. and, as i'm sure others have said...it's ridiculous to ask him to bunt right there.

    unfortunately, i think the media focus is going to be on barrett's play and game winning wild pitch instead of the ridiculous decision to bring in eyre. man, little worked lou over this weekend with the l/r matchups.
