theriot can ph and bunt then you can use murton to ph for the pitcher's spot.

I don't mean to sound like Dusty, but Floyd is just too damn slow for the 2 spot. is there some event i'm not aware of where the 2 spot hitters compete in a 100 meter dash or something? why does it matter if the 2 hitter is fast? he won't be doing any running in front of lee and ramirez. i'm fine with theriot starting, but i wish it was at the expense of izturis instead of derosa. I didn't say he had to be fast, I just think he shouldn't be slower than Barry Bonds. And that's mainly so he can get from first to home on a double, which I really don't think Floyd is capable of right now. that's a pretty random reason to want a guy to bat 2nd.

he recently signed an extension w/ the brewers. Recently as in 2 years ago? Hes a FA after next year. Brewers should trade him for Hughes and Tabata after this season. i didn't realize it was only a four year extension that included two of his free agent years. i don't know why the brewers would want to trade him after this season. they should be pretty good this year, and even better next year. Because they have zero percent chance of resigning him? If hes healthy they will be able to get a SIGNIFICANTLY better package than keeping Sheets for a year and getting a couple draft picks. It wouldn't be the fan friendly move and it might be the tough move if the Brewers think they have a shot at the WS next year, but it would be a move that would ensure they would continue to have a shot at the WS for the next 4 years or so. there is a 100% chance that they do not a 0% chance of re-signing him. they threw a bunch of money at suppan and they've shown the willingness to spend in the past couple years. plus, sheets seems like he wants to stay there.

Seriously, how uncool would it be if everytime Carpenter has a good start I come back and bump this thread? 30 or so bumps would be annoying, trolling and wouldn't contribute anything of value to the board. Much like your post which was... dumb. The last time I checked this was a Cubs board, not a cards board. i haven't watched a whole lot of ohio st or this tourney, but is greg oden literally some kind of baby or something? all they talk about is how tired he is, how he needs a rest, and how he wants his bottle and blankey. i've heard them talk about it during more than one game.

what? era+ from '03-'05 123 227 (227???!!!!) 181 That's a pretty poor stat to judge a reliever. Even so, he had three good years as a "closer" but what does that mean? it means he was unbelievably awesome for three years, i guess. what's your point?

Too many pitches per inning and too many two inning saves on multiple days and he wasn't that good to begin with. How do you figure? I figure that becuase most releif pitchers are failed starters, as is Lidge. that makes no sense.

that's my understanding. and it's ok if it gives you too many reserves. why the hell are the stupid astros batting offensive black hole adam everett in front of berkman and lee while ensberg at his .400 obp potential bat 5th? if ensberg was batting second, i think he'd have the potential to be a top 5-7 3b.
