i picked floyd up off waivers for soriano. that's ok, isn't it?
  2. leads the majors... Is it possible to calculate an ERA+ for King Felix? Wouldn't you have a divide by zero error in that formula? heh...his didn't show up on the leaderboard because baseball-reference has it listed as "inf," which i'm guessing is infinity.

  4. Well, not so much "mental toughness". But alot of his problems are deffinatly mental. Compare him to a guy like Greg Maddux, who does not have near the "stuff" of Carlos. Maddux is a very smart pitcher. I have to assume Zambrano is not. Maddux is very calm and follows his game plan. Zambrano when something, even a minor setback, before the game gets out of hand. He looses it mentally. Not so much "looses it", but he does not do the right things and let's his emmotions ruin his game. He needs to take a step back, slow his game down. Take a few breaths, and concentrate only on the next pitch. This is one of his big downfalls. And it can certainly be considered something like "mental instability" on the mound. losing it mentally = not mentally tough prior is more mentally tough than zambrano has ever been. when the pressure was on, prior dominated down the stretch in '03 and was great in the playoffs. zambrano was atrocious that postseason. but b/c prior is quiet and now injured, he's the guy who is a basketcase. go figure.

i think you have to make daily changes like a half hour before the day's first game or something.

another thing about the pitcher swapping...the goal of the 7 start limit was to prevent teams from swapping around pitchers to simply out-start their opponent each week. allowing teams to move around their rosters around all over town doesn't accomplish that goal at all.

Well, Sexson missed a few games due to postponements. Rolen missed several games due to a sore back. Uggla missed games due to postponement. I would hope your infield outscored my infield. Actually, I was just referring to the middle infield, since you were earlier bragging that yours was the best. ;) But if you want to compare entire infields, I've also had Pujols, Weeks & Reyes missing time this week due to postponed games and Vic was out for the whole week due to his injured knee from the first snowstorm in Cleveland. i think it's been established that your team is awesome.

I have both Sheets and Myers in other leagues, so what's helping me in our matchup (which I'm sure I'll still lose anyway) is hurting me in my other leagues. I would have preferred that they had good games, you beat me my a larger margin here, and I do better in my other leagues. i don't know how you figure i've got you beat. i'm going to lose a ton of points overnight.
  10. soriano's killing the team right now.
  11. well, that's twice floyd's made the third out "with the game on the line." changed your mind yet?

  14. Cause we had no outs and 3,4,5 coming up. it was dumb. Soriano is fast enough to score The rule of thumb that 3rd base coaches uses is this: If the ball gets to the OFer (in this case the CFer) before the runner even gets to third you hold the runner up. In this case Soriano was a good 3 steps away from 3rd when the ball got to Freel. Holding Soriano up there was the good call. Yeah, I don't think you can fault Quade for not wanting to risk a baserunner on third with nobody out and the best hitters in the lineup at bat. none of those guys have gotten a hit today. give me a break. freel threw home and it was cut off because soriano was standing on 3rd. Give me a break, they should have forced the action when runs are scare. Force them to make a good throw. Quade sent Theriot is a similar situation in MIL (the CF had the ball and if it hadn't been for a great slide he was out). whatever...you're just mad b/c the cubs didn't score. you weren't saying crap about it until it looked like the cubs weren't going to score. making the first out at home with no outs and the heart of the order coming up in a 1-0 game is about as stupid as it gets. That's not true. I said it at the time. My post didn't come after the inning was over. As soon as Theriot hit the ball, I thought Soriano would tie the game. There's no guarantee he would have been out. There is also nothing wrong with forcing them to make perfect throws. if he would have been thrown out, you would have bitched to high heaven about it. you're just frustrated with this terrible team.

  17. Cause we had no outs and 3,4,5 coming up. it was dumb. Soriano is fast enough to score Freel had the ball by the time Soriano made it to third. If the throw home was close, Soriano is out by at least 10 feet. Freel was conceeding the run--trying to keep Theriot at 1B by throwing into 2B. you're absolutely, 100% wrong...i just ran it back and watched it again. freel threw to the cutoff man. he was preparing to throw the ball all the way home, but he saw that soriano was being held, so he let up and threw it in to the cutoff man.
  18. Cause we had no outs and 3,4,5 coming up. it was dumb. Soriano is fast enough to score He would have been out by 20 feet. The ball was hit too hard. No he would't have. The Reds were conceeding the run, Freel didn't even throw to the plate. The Reds announcers said the same thing; they were surprised he didn't score. dude, you're wrong. just move on.
  19. he would have been out by 20 feet, and he couldn't see into the future to know that jones and lee were going to choke.
  20. that was one of the most pathetic ab's i've ever seen.
  21. has izturis hit the ball out of the infield since the first series?
  22. oh, that carlos mencia...he says things other people are afraid to say! edgy!!!!!!!!
  23. leads the majors...

Well, if you'd quit picking up every new closer off the free agent market, you wouldn't have this problem! I say we leave abuck stuck using his entire reserve list for closers. That way he can't take advantage of the extra starts each week. :D rotating SP's is for pussies. there, i said it. :D
