i'm not stockpiling arms b/c, for one, more than likely you'll still get at least six starts each week...that's just how it will often fall. secondly, with how much a bad start costs you, i'm not going to throw scott downs out there just for the sake of adding a start.

i've got five closers + owens, who may close for the marlins. someone take one of them off my hands.
  3. i don't find dempster the slightest bit funny. but i'm glad he's pitching well.
  4. so they're not playing murton in lf in 2007 because colvin is going to be playing rf in 2011? got it.
  5. hooray for pie taking walks and for marmol not giving any.
  6. where are all the threads questioning zambrano's mental toughness? there sure were plenty about prior's, wood's and hill's. i guess because zambrano yells loud and hits homers everyone assumes he's a GAMER.
  7. sticky please.
  8. rich hill is good at pitching baseballs. who could have seen this coming?? tied for the best era in the NL.

yeah, the difference between hill and el duque alone is probably going to be at least 30 points. really good pitching helps a lot and really bad pitching kills you.

it looks like i kept the worst of the three. of course, it stings double because the guy i kept is hurting the cubs too...

I would disagree. While I could live with either option, being able to switch pitchers allows everyone to have 7 starts despite scheduling quirks. The whole point of the rule change was that you could go into a week being down 5 starts to 10 and you knew you would lose. It really didn't matter if your team was playing better. I do agree that we need clarification and to make the decision now. that doesn't necessarily allow everyone to have seven starts. some people only carry five or six pitchers.
  12. I'll bet they find nothing that calls for surgery. But, whether he gets the knife or not, do you really want another year of this soap opera??? could someone please tell me what harm it does the organization to have prior sit on the DL for a year? they're not counting on him anyway.

I agree. We will continue with changes only on Sunday unless there is an injury. so can we make pitching changes mid-week in an effort to get seven starts? no. ok.

throw strikes, myers, you stupid piece of [expletive]. at least ensberg's doing some of the damage...
  18. are we sure we can't fit one more zambrano start in?
  19. and apparently you think the answer is manliness.
  20. Again, examples are easy. Were I properly motivated, I guarantee you I could find plenty of examples where this level of ptiching (even "high stress" pitching) did not result in injury. Interesting as they may be, examples are not useful data for understanding cause and effect. geez...

    Week 2

we've always allowed mid-week subs for guys who were hurt, but not on the DL. you just can't put them on your DL.
  22. we get it, joe...you're from chicago.
  23. hill still gets stuck with catching the first pitch? ouch.
  24. jones is out to prove to everybody that he can hit lefties, people.
  25. at least pierre would make it all the way to second before he got tagged out.
