  1. murton getting lucky all over the basepaths.
  2. murton with more extra basehits this inning than floyd had all of july!
  3. if it makes you feel any better, he got a terrible jump on that one.
  4. yeah...all hill's fault. How isn't it? are you watching the game? I'm not...can you tell me? two of the runs scored b/c they got on w/ bloops.

  6. fine. he would have went. great play by rowand. and i am PISSED that the announcers mentioned it. whatever gets your baseball purist motor going.
  7. Are you saying it did not matter when Rowand threw well to third? If so you ought to think the same thing about chiken-wing Jacque. yeah, i'm saying it didn't matter. lee wasn't going no matter what. jones being terrible doesn't have anything to do with it. You completely ignored my point in order to further your own. if jones would have lolly gagged on the play and the guy would have tagged, yes, i would have been all over him. what's your point? oh, is it ok if i criticize jones for misjudging that fly ball by roughly 30 feet? I just don't get 1. how you can say a ball about 10 feet from the warning track in right center 'isn't that deep' 2. how you can say Lee definitely wouldn't have gone in light of 1 and the fact that Lee went back to the bag to tag 3. why Len and Bob commenting about it gets you so fired up. it doesn't get me fired up, and i know lee wouldn't go because he, well, didn't go. and i really doubt it was because roward got all shifty and in throwing position. but if you think lee would have risked making the third out of the inning at third on a medium deep fly ball to center, go nuts.
  8. it was hard to tell since jones prevented the camera from being anywhere near the ball, but was that ball catchable?

  10. Cancels out what he did in CF one play earlier. but the thing is, he really didn't do anything. lee was never going to run on that. stuff like that is done solely so the announcers can heap praise all over him eckstein style. when he really needs to do it right, he rainbows the throw from center...and it costs the phillies a run. How do you know Lee was never hoing to run? If that were Jacque in CF and he assumed the man at second wasn't going to run and thus lolly-gagged over (you know, the way Sammy used to in RF?) you'd be all over him. You should change your name to Nostradomus. i'm not criticizing rowand for it, i'm just not going gaga for it. lee wouldn't tag b/c it wasn't deep and he wouldn't have wanted to make the third out at third.
  11. how do you know this? if he didn't have any intention of tagging, why was he standing on the back instead of part way between second and third? if Rowand catches that ball flat footed or going away, Lee tags and gets to third. no he doesn't. there's no way he tags on a fly ball to medium deep right-center with two outs.

  14. where were rowand's fundamentals when it mattered?
  15. ok guys, get over it. lee wasn't running on that no matter what, so rowand's fundamentals demonstration wasn't really that special.
  16. and how many times did he hit to the right side of the infield to advance the runner? Answer - a lot Thats not cool or glamorous though. Ryno never cared about his personal stats, being cool or on camera - he just wanted to win. what people who make these kinds of statements fail to grasp is that personal stats help teams win. I don't think that is true at all. I think the point he is trying to make is that in certain cases players like that forgoe the personal stats by laying down a bunt or trying to go the other way with the ball depending on the situation. and ryno didn't do either of those things very often. and you can save your energy by not typing about how ryno used to move the runner over because i know that's what you're going to say.
  17. and how many times did he hit to the right side of the infield to advance the runner? Answer - a lot i actually looked that up on baseballreference and under that category, it actually says "a lot." hill deserves to get a cheap win...let's get like six runs.
  18. he's shown over the past few days that he doesn't get the whole shortest route is a straight line deal.
  19. wait, jones is playing against a lefty?? nice cut.
  20. i love that sandberg quote about bunts. yeah, his 31 career sac bunts is what got him in the hof.
  21. yeah, studies have shown that dumb pitchers are more prone to wild pitches. Watch him in person. He gets flustered, alot. I don't hate the guy, but showed tons of negative body language Friday night in Cincy. Pacing around the mound, shrugging his shoulders, putting his head down. It doesn't have anything to do with intelligence, more like composure. If Friday is a "bad" outing, then I'm not going to complain about Hill's composure or how he goes about his job on the mound. Did I say it was a bad outing? It was just a comment on his mannerisms. Things fall apart for him very quickly. That's a matter of opinion. If there's a strong defensive catcher Hill might not have given up any runs that inning. As it stood he only gave up one, is that falling apart? How do you know that it's linked to his mannerisms? People are different, Hill may show outward displays of frustration in order for him to get over it and focus entirely on the next play. Sure it was Kendall fault that Hill made a error, Hit, HBP, and walk. There is no one to blame but himself. that's not what he said. at all.
