    Was that when he was trying to be a switch hitter? As has been said a million times, those numbers don't mean anything because most of those at bats were as a left handed hitter, whereas he bats right handed. and sucks at it.

    i've also never heard anyone claim he's the second best lefty in the NL and, in the same breath, claim he's overrated.

    yes, murton's 100 OPS+ will never do...especially since we have to play a right-handed theriot and his 72 OPS+. also, good thing hendry traded jones for crap.

    Yup, because the Cubs could not use a good player like crawford. oh, they were just going to give him to the cubs? the cubs weren't going to have to give up, say, rich hill to get him? well, if that's the case, i take it back. I'm unsure if I'd give up Hill to get him. Hill is a tad overrated. He's a above average pitcher but if he was in the AL he's not even in the discussion of top five or six lefties in the AL. In the NL he may very well be the best lefty not named Hamels. That alone tells you how weak the level of play is right now in the NL. um...that makes no sense.

    that loss by kansas to missouri was the best thing that could have happened to them. stupid.

    clutch will never be proven because it's ridiculous to think a guy can magically improve to a level beyond his normal ability on cue unless you're playing some type of video game. if a player had the ability to "clutch up" and hit .100 points higher in tight spots, he'd use this magical ability at all times and just hit .100 points higher overall (and become much more wealthy and valuable to his team).

    He said in another thread that he's asked and that Tejada would cost to much to us in terms of money, and that's likely not going to change unless the Orioles eat a chunk of the contract (which they won't). which is just insane considering the money and years they seemed perfectly willing to waste on matsui.

    the twins don't have to trade johan. with liriano coming back next year, they could very well go far into the playoffs (if they make it). yankee fans are acting like the twins should just take whatever they can get for him.

The Cubs still lose, because now they probably move on to plan B from Kaz, which could only be worse. I dread Plan B. I'm so frustrated with Hendry, that I'd just as soon they don't make any moves this offseason, because I probably won't like anything he does. Call it an offseason now before any more damage gets done. I hesitate to bring this up, but one of my sources did say there was "some talk (nothing substantive)" of the Giants interested in pursuing a Dave Roberts for Jason Marquis deal in conjunction with a Miguel Cabrera for Lincecum/Cain plus prospects deal. wouldn't bother me at all.

    that cubs' offer blows all rumored boston/ny rumors out of the water. they'd be getting two cheap, above average major leaguers in hill and marmol. i wouldn't do it though. i'd have no problem with a marmol + pie type offer.

    prior owes the cubs nothing. he pitched like a $20 mil pitcher for pennies in 2003. i don't feel ripped off by him in the least.

    the downside is now hendry will give someone worse than matsui 3/15.

    so it seems like this signing would be an attempt to strengthen the bench (by moving derosa there) even though it would weaken the everyday lineup (by installing matsui). why not just sign mike lamb to play 3b, bench aramis and make that bench really strong?
