  1. but now bonds is going to be on sportscenter!
  2. my goodness, we get it...the cubs got screwed.
  3. why shouldn't espn be all over this? do you homers really think a cubs' win is more important on a national scale than 752 and 753?
  4. this tough? the giants have sucked this whole series.
  5. which, of course, was completed as described shortly thereafter.
  6. even if they weren't planning on finalizing the trade until tonight, there's no way gwynn would play today if he was involved.
  7. that realgm board is full of goodness...
  8. Better than the Aram trade? Wow. I've never seen such euphoria for a addition by subtraction trade. yeah, it's hard for me to get too excited about the trade of a guy who should have never been on the team in the first place. maddux for a pirate to be named later and a few months of izturis' crappiness...nice trade, hendry.
  9. if you just say stuff it automatically makes it true.
  10. derosa better than dunn? this board has brought me quite a few laughs the last week or so, but that maybe the best knee-slapper of them all. seriously though, it's amazing how just about every sentence you just wrote is completely and totally wrong.
  11. Yeah, we really need to get off this Pagan dependence in CF. It's going to come back to bite us sooner rather than later. We have, now we have the mighty JJ, who ironically and strangely enough is doing well. yeah, that seven hop chopper he hit off klesko's leg showed me he's ready to go on a tear. seriously though, i feel bad for jones, and it was nice to see him act like he wasn't on the verge of tears for once.
  12. How is it biased? Those are the numbers straight up. You can't argue with those. The only thing that Fielder has been better than Lee at this year is hitting home runs, plain and simple. If you can find something else, feel free. I don't know what measuring stick you use to judge players, but I go by their numbers. Fielder hits more home runs, Lee does more of everything else. the only thing fielder has been better at than lee is hitting, plain and simple..regardless of who has more singles, doubles, stolen bases, etc...all told, fielder has been substantially better. you can try to pull out individual statistics to help your argument all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that fielder has been much better than lee as an offensive player. No, the only thing that Fielder has been better than Lee at this year is hitting home runs. Until you can back up your claims with some stats, I won't change my mind on that. Lee has been better at everything else other than hitting home runs. Statistics prove that. my goodness, man. by "only" being better at hitting homeruns, fielder has been a better hitter. what is so hard to figure out about this? anyway, here's your stats... fielder -- .992 OPS lee -- .924 OPS fielder -- 157 OPS+ lee -- 140 OPS+

  14. yeah, needless to say hendry has completely butchered the catcher spot this season. it's been a disaster.
  15. dividing up stats and seeing who has more of each one is a pretty biased (and weird, not to mention completely worthless) way to value players. bottom line, fielder has been much more valuable than lee this year using every measuring stick available...other than your newly created "tally method".
  16. So you're saying that defense means nothing? Why even give them gloves then? i don't think defense means a lot...especially at freaking 1b. lee is better than fielder defensively, but how many runs/wins does a superior defensive 1b give you? not many. it's not like he's flagging down balls in the outfield gaps or diving to stop basehits at ss. he's a 1b...a good percentage of his chances could be made by a high schooler.
  17. and where did the line of thinking that there's more to baseball than fantasy stats come from? because it's pretty much not true.
  18. lee's more consistent??? he's on pace for like 12 homers after he hit 46 two years ago. there's nothing consistent about that.
  19. Prince Fielder doesn't have to catch errant throws in fantasy baseball... Lee is hitting 50 points higher (yes, 50), it's not such a stretch to think that he'll regain his power form in the second half (already has 2 homers in his last 3 games). He won't catch up to Fielder in home runs, but if we're talking real baseball for the rest of the year, I'll go with Lee. And I wouldn't take Jason Kendall over anyone. oh, lee has him beat in batting average? why didn't you say so...i take it all back. one more thing though...fielder is slugging 124 points higher (yes, 124! waaay more than lee's robust 50 point lead in average) than lee.
  20. Again, they aren't meaningless. What I'm saying is that Zambrano had a problem with Barrett this year, and previous numbers, in that instance, are meaningless. There's no way to prove it, but if there wasn't a problem, it was an odd coincidence. If you're going to pretend that 1/2 of the season's worth of starts are meaningless, there's no reason to continue the conversation, because you've apparently already made up your mind and are unwilling to accept anything else. well, nobody else seemed to have a problem with barrett so why in the hell isn't it zambrano's fault? seriously, why is barrett the bad guy when 4/5 of the rotation seemed cool with him?
  21. where can i sign up to play fantasy baseball for money with some of these "proven veteran" supporters? i'll take prince fielder and russell martin and you can have derrek lee and jason kendall.
  22. oops...hold off on that board wide wrist cutting for a moment...
